Abstract: A tool for fabrication of a thermoplastic panel includes a sealed vessel, a membrane and a heater. The sealed vessel defines a volume. The sealed vessel includes first and second fluid ports. The membrane is disposed within the volume to define first and second chambers. The first chamber receives a skin and a core of the thermoplastic panel. The first chamber selectively applies a first fluidic pressure to the skin and the core in response to receiving a first fluid via the first fluid port. The membrane abuts a major surface of the thermoplastic panel. The second chamber selectively applies a second fluidic pressure to the membrane in response to receiving a second fluid via the second fluid port. The heater selectively directs heat toward the first chamber. A method for fabrication of the thermoplastic panel is provided. Various examples of thermoplastic panels are also provided.

Abstract: A process for coating particles of an expanded thermoplastic elastomer involves a1) bringing the particles into contact with a water-based binder, resulting in at least partly coated particles, and a2) drying the coated particles. A process for the preparation of a shaped body involves b) coating the particles of the expanded thermoplastic elastomer, wherein before a2) the particles are brought into the shape of the shaped body, or wherein after a2) the particles are brought into the shape of the shaped body and contacted with a solvent, preferably a water-based solvent, or by subjecting the particles to heat. A shaped body is obtainable by such processes. A water-based binder is useful for the preparation of a shaped body, wherein the shaped body is formed by particles of an expanded thermoplastic elastomer and wherein the particles are at least partly coated with the water-based binder.

Abstract: A die-formed chamfered plastic floor and a preparation method thereof are disclosed. The method includes: mixing raw materials for preparing a plastic floor matrix to obtain a mixed material; subjecting the mixed material to an extrusion, a laminating-embossing treatment, a die forming-chamfering treatment, a coating with an ultraviolet curable paint, a slicing, and a tenoning in sequence, to obtain the die-formed chamfered plastic floor. In the disclosure, a die forming-chamfering treatment is set between a laminating-embossing treatment and a coating with an ultraviolet curable paint, and thereby a chamfer embossing could be formed on the surface of the workpiece through pressing.

Abstract: According to one embodiment, a system for manufacturing a fully impregnated thermoplastic prepreg includes a mechanism for moving a fabric or mat and a drying mechanism that removes residual moisture from at least one surface of the fabric or mat. The system also includes a resin application mechanism that applies a reactive resin to the fabric or mat and a press mechanism that presses the coated fabric or mat to ensure that the resin fully saturates the fabric or mat. The system further includes a curing oven through which the coated fabric or mat is moved to polymerize the resin and thereby form a thermoplastic polymer so that upon exiting the oven, the fabric or mat is fully impregnated with the thermoplastic polymer. During at least a portion of the process, humidity in the vicinity of the coated fabric or mat is maintained at substantially zero.
