摘要:
A method for vulcanizing rubber within a mold by dielectric heating. The mold is made of dielectric materials such as ceramics or plastics, and the rubber material is vulcanized within the mold in a dielectric heating furnace. The surface portions of the mold in contact with the rubber material are preferably made of a material having a high dielectric loss factor in order to heat the rubber material or to prevent cooling of the dielectrically heated rubber material by conduction of the heat toward the mold. The other portions of the mold are made of another material having a low dielectric loss factor. The mold is a separate mold. The separate mold is fixed in a frame made of a dielectric material having a low dielectric loss factor.

These novel molds are characterized in that they contain a cavity in porous material which is not monolithic, but which, on the contrary, is constituted by zones B with high capillary forces and by zones A with low capillary forces for liquids. The process of using these novel molds is useful for the manufacture of expanded plastics articles.

Methods of converting essentially unpolymerized precursors into polyimides in which the precursors are exposed to microwave radiation. Preheating, thermal post-curing, and other techniques may be employed to promote the development of optimum properties; and reinforcements can be employed to impart strength and rigidity to the final product. Also disclosed are processes for making various composite artifacts in which non-polymeric precursors are converted to polyimides by using the techniques described above.

A method of cladding a separator, that is a diaphragm or membrane, to a cathode box of the pocket type comprising a plurality of foraminate walls, the method comprising positioning a separator in the form of a sleeve in each pocket of the cathode box with the ends of the sleeves projecting beyond the ends of the pockets and heat sealing by means of radio frequency heating those parts of the sleeves projecting beyond the ends of adjacent pockets, either to each other or to additional heat sealable material. Also a cathode box clad with separator, and an electrolytic cell comprising a cathode box clad with separator.

This relates to the heating of polyethylene terephthalate by way of RF energy. It has been found that if polyethylene terephthalate articles are passed through a radio frequency energy field, the molecules thereof will become excited and rapid heating will result. This heating is particularly useful in the heating of preforms prior to the blow molding thereof and by varying the configuration and relationship of electrodes, controlled heating of the preforms may be effected with it being possible to have a controlled temperature differential along the length of the preform or other article so heated.

The present invention relates to a method for manufacturing an insulating element, floor element, etc., consisting of bark pieces joined together by a glue material. The bark pieces, which have a piece size of preferably 8-30 mm.sup.3, are coated with a thin layer of the glue material and, after moulding and during pressing to desired element dimension, are heated and fixed by high-frequency energy fed into the element.

There are provided improvements in the formation of a bearing hole in the body of a strap member made of a thermoplastic resin and particularly adapted for use as a watch strap, said bearing hole being intended to receive therethrough a spring rod or the like for mounting said strap member onto a watch case or the like.Firstly, the improvements are directed to a method of forming a bearing hole in one end of the body of said strap member which comprises having said end of said body contacted by a tubular member having a central axis thereof penetrated by a core member of a material having a small dielectric loss and being of a nature not to be fused with said strap member body even when heated, and then integrally heat uniting together said strap member and tubular member by means of a high frequency adhesion device in a silicone rubber press mold to form a bearing hole at a right position in the body of said strap member.Secondly, the improvements involve a method of forming a bearing hole in a more effective manner by employment of a core member such as rod-like one of which at least the surface portions are composed of a material which is so excellent in lubricity and heat resistance as to be easily released from the press mold, thereby enabling the core rod to be easily removed from the strap body by pulling.

WHERE THE EXOTHERM FROM THE POLYURETHANE REACTION IS INSUFFICIENT TO CAUSE EXPANSION OF EXPANDED THERMOPLASTIC PARTICLES (BEADS) DISPERED THEREIN THE PRATICLES MAY BE SUBSTANTIALLY FOLLY EXPANDED BY SUBJECTING THE COMPOSITE FOAM TO HIGH FREQUENCY ELECTRICAL ENERGY FOR A TIME SUFFICIENT TO EXPAND THEM. THIS IMPROVED PROCESS IS RAPID, READILY CONTROLLED AND PRODUCES IMPROVED FOAM COMPOSITES.
