    摘要： A PAPER TUB IS FORMED ON A ROTATING MANDREL BY WINDING TWO SECTIONS OF PAPER ONTO THE MANDREL, ONE OVER THE OTHER. THE SECTIONS OF PAPER ARE HELD TO THE MANDREL BY A VACUUM WHICH IS APPLIED TO THE PAPER SECTIONS THROUGH ORIFICES IN THE MANDREL. AFTER THE PAPER IS WRAPPED AROUND THE MANDREL AND GLUED TOGETHER, PRESSURED AIR IS SENT THROUGH SOME OF THE AIR LINES TO THE ORIFICES IN THE MANDREL. THE PRESSURE AIR FORCES THE TUB OFF THE MANDREL TO ANOTHER POSITION.

    摘要： An apparatus for producing containers from paper or paper-like material. The container has a lateral surface made of a wound sheet-like segment, of which segment edges arranged on longitudinal sides overlap and form a region of overlap, and a pan-like termination element. The lateral surface and the termination element are connected to one another in an essentially liquid-tight manner by a skirt, and at least one pressing ram is provided for pressing and sealing the skirt, the pressing ram subjecting the skirt to essentially radially directed pressure. The pressing ram has a radially projecting protrusion in a portion provided for the purpose of acting on a boundary portion of the region of overlap of the lateral surface of the skirt.

    摘要： A fabricated cup or other nestable container in which the sidewall is formed from a rectangular sheet-like blank of a thermoplastic material, particularly an expanded thermoplastic material, the blank having its ends joined to one another in a liquid-tight seam extending the full height thereof to form a sleeve, the blank having a relatively high degree of orientation or heat-shrinkability extending circumferentially of the sleeve, the fabrication of the sidewall from the sleeve being accomplished by telescoping the sleeve over a generally frusto-conically shaped mandrel, by exposing the sleeve to heat to cause it shrink to conform to the configuration of the mandrel and by stripping the shrunken sleeve from the mandrel. A two-piece container may also be formed from such a sidewall by affixing an end closure element to the bottom or smaller end of the sidewall. A one-piece container may also be formed in this manner by using a blank of sufficient height so that a substantial portion of the sleeve formed therefrom extends beyond the smaller end of the forming mandrel, such substantial portion, when the sleeve is exposed to heat, being shrinkable to form an annular planar portion disposed transversely of the longitudinal axis of the mandrel and a relatively small tubulation which extends longitudinally from the interior of the annular planar portion and which, by the application of pressure thereto while at elevated temperature, may be caused to collapse and fuse together to close the bottom of the container in a liquid-tight manner. A container of this type may be used to advantage to contain any liquid or other fluent product therein in face to face contact with the interior surface of the sidewall thereof, and when the container is fabricated from an expanded material, because of the insulating characteristics of such material, a container fabricated therefrom may be used to particular advantage as a handholdable cup for coffee or other hot beverage.

    摘要： A process for producing a cup made of a paper material and comprising a fillable interior is described. A sleeve forming the interior is attached in an essentially liquid-tight manner to a wall of a pot-shaped bottom by means of the forming of a bottom skirt. In joining the sleeve to the bottom, two height areas of the wall of the pot-shaped bottom are provided. The wall of the pot-shaped bottom is joined only to a first height area of the sleeve, which is referred to as the fixed area of the bottom skirt. A second height area remains, in which the wall of the pot-shaped bottom is not attached to the sleeve, and which is referred to as the non-attached area of the bottom skirt. The bottom skirt can be widened subsequently in the non-attached area in at least one area along the periphery.

    摘要： A paper cup of surface-protected paperboard and an apparatus for making the same, with the paper cup including a wound cup wall and a cup bottom inserted therein. Ends of a wall blank forming the cup wall are overlapped after a winding of the wall blank, and an inner cutting edge is covered by a protective strip welded together with the cup wall. The protective strip is fashioned as a sealing strip in flat contact with the inner surface of the cup wall and is welded to the cup wall on both sides of the overlapping point. The apparatus includes a winding station wherein the wall blank is wrapped onto a winding mandrel and is welded together at the overlapping zone in a subsequent welding station. With further devices being provided for inserting a cup bottom in the thus manufactured cup wall. A positioning device for the sealing strip is associated with the winding mandrel with the positioning device lying in front or preceding the winding station.

    摘要： A device in which a conic-shaped mantle and a cup-shaped bottom portion are assembled on a conic-shaped pin by a mantle seam sealing operation, and a placement of the bottom portion within the narrower end of the mantle, projecting beyond the pin, in flanged interlocking relationship. In the sealing operation a movable member is associated with the pin to be extensible along the seam line of the mantle which is received over the pin and has a portion extending beyond the pin, so as to provide an abutment surface at this portion against which a pressing member urges the mantle at the seam line. After this movable member is retracted another member places the bottom portion in position in the mantle and a still further member urges the bottom portion and mantle into interlocking relationship.
