Abstract: A method for producing a cardboard-plastic composite shell (10), in particular an MAP cardboard-plastic composite shell for food products, includes at least the method steps (66, 68, 82, 88) providing a plastic foil (12), pre-forming the plastic foil (12) to form a shell shape (14), providing a cardboard blank (16), and connecting the cardboard blank (16) to the already pre-formed plastic foil (12) in order to form the cardboard-plastic composite shell (10). The cardboard blank (16) provided is not folded or incompletely folded directly before the connection to the pre-formed plastic foil (12). When the cardboard blank (16) is connected to the pre-formed plastic foil (16), the cardboard blank (16) is folded onto the plastic foil (12) by a stamp mechanism (24).

Abstract: Described are a machine and a method for forming containers from blanks, including a plurality of shaping hoppers, an endless conveyor which defines a feed path and on which the hoppers are mounted in succession and a plurality of pushing elements which are movable in such a way as to follow the respective shaping hoppers along at least a stretch of the feed path and which have a to-and-fro operating movement towards and away from the respective hopper along a direction transverse, preferably perpendicular, to the feed path. The machine also includes folding means disposed along the feed path downstream of the pushing elements and configured to produce, respectively, a top closure and/or a bottom closure of the tubular blank.

Abstract: A system for forming a pressware product from a web of a roll of material includes a positive mold, a negative mold, a heating element, an actuator, a force sensor, and a control system. The positive mold forms a top surface of the pressware product. The negative mold forms a bottom surface of the pressware product. The heating element is coupled to the positive mold or the negative mold. The actuator shifts the positive mold or the negative mold to cut and form the pressware product in a single stroke. The force sensor detects the forming force applied by the actuator, and the control system directs the actuator to adjust the forming force.

Abstract: A system for forming a pressware product comprises rollers, a scoring tool, a scoring station actuator, a forming tool, and a forming station actuator. The rollers pull the web along a path having an angle. The scoring tool receives the material from the rollers and includes a vertically shiftable scoring punch with an edge that extends about an outline of the pressware product and a striker plate. The scoring station actuator shifts the scoring tool to form a slot in the web. The forming tool receives the scored web and includes a vertically shiftable positive mold assembly and negative mold assembly. The forming station actuator shifts the positive mold assembly to press against the web and form the pressware product.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of manufacturing a cellulose product having a flat or non-flat product shape by a pressure moulding apparatus comprising a forming mould. The forming mould has a forming surface defining said product shape, The method comprises the steps of: arranging a cellulose blank containing less than 45 weight percent water in said forming mould; heating said cellulose blank to a forming temperature in the range of 100° C. to 200° C.; and pressing said cellulose blank by means of said forming mould with a forming pressure acting on the cellulose blank across said forming surface, said forming pressure being in the range of 1 MPa to 100 MPa.

Abstract: An apparatus for forming an upper edge of a paperboard container includes a pocket including a shell having a cavity with a mouth configured to receive the container along an axis such that the rim extends beyond the mouth. A workstation includes a forming member having a first forming surface which is actuatable toward the axis from a retracted position spaced from the rim to an extended position lying adjacent an upper end of the rim, and a forming segment having a second forming surface which is actuatable along the axis and the forming member in response to axial movement thereof such that the second forming surface is positioned spaced from a lower end of the rim. The second forming surface is actuatable along the axis towards the first forming surface to form the rim therebetween.
