The blanket belt travels about guide rollers which have a lesser mass and/or a lesser diameter than the form cylinders which offset the colors onto the blanket belt. 摘要： A lithographic newspaper printing press comprises printing units which are mounted on top of each other, forming a tower arrangement. Each printing unit comprises a first and a second plate cylinder having a length being substantially four times the width of a newspaper page and having a circumference being substantially equal to the height of a newspaper page. Each printing unit further comprises a first and a second blanket cylinder associated with said first and second plate cylinders, whereby each of said first and second blanket cylinders has substantially the same diameter as the associated plate cylinder. Each of the blanket cylinders carries a respective continuous sleeve-shaped printing blanket which is axially removable from the respective plate cylinder through an aperture formed in the side wall of the housing of the printing unit, while the respective blanket cylinder is cantilevered in the opposite side wall of the housing.

摘要： An improved printing press includes a tubular-shaped printing blanket removably disposed on a blanket cylinder rotatably supported by a frame and having an outer circumferential surface. The printing blanket is disposed in rolling engagement with a conventional printing plate disposed on a plate cylinder having an axially extending gap in which opposite ends of the printing plate are secured. The printing blanket is removed by opening a portion of the frame and axially sliding the printing blanket off of the blanket cylinder. The blanket cylinder has passages which deliver a stream of air to the outer surface of the blanket cylinder which expands the inner circumferential surface of the printing blanket so that the blanket can be axially removed or inserted onto the blanket cylinder. The printing blanket has a metal inner surface which is tensioned by the blanket cylinder to retain the printing blanket on the blanket cylinder during operation of the press. The printing blanket is at least partially formed of a compressible material.

摘要： A web-fed, multicolor, offset perfecting printing press having a stack of printing units each having a combination of a plate cylinder and a blanket cylinder on one side of a continuous web of paper, and another such combination on the other side. Each plate cylinder is split into a pair of halves for printing a pair of images in juxtaposition transversely of the web. For precise registration of the different color images printed by the different printing units on the web, there are provided a pair of axial adjustments coupled to opposite ends of each plate cylinder for causing axial displacement of the respective plate cylinder halves with a view to fine image positioning transversely of the web, and a circumferential adjustment for causing circumferential displacement of either half of each plate cylinder with a view to fine image positioning longitudinally of the web. A separate drive mechanism drives each combination of one plate cylinder and one blanket cylinder, so that each drive mechanism serves the additional purpose of positioning the images longitudinally of the web preparatory to fine positioning.

When the transfer cylinders are moved apart, web-guiding elements at the web inlet and/or web outlet support the printing-material web on both sides during the plate or sleeve change by supporting elements which are narrow or act at points and can be displaced transversely with respect to the printing-material web.
