Disclosed is related to a printing device for performing a multi-color gravure offset printing operation in one rotation of a gravure offset roll for various shapes of printing material, and a method therefor. The printing device includes at least: a blanket roll having a cylindrical shape and moving in a first direction while rotating; an ink transfer unit including one or more ink transfer plates which is in contact with a lower end of the blanket roll; a squeeze unit moving in a second direction in a state in which one end thereof comes in contact with the ink transfer plate, wherein the second direction forms a predetermined angle with respect to the first direction or is orthogonal to the first direction. According to the present invention, an effect of enabling gravure offset printing in one printing cycle on various shapes of printing material is provided.

A multi-layer rubber blanket, that is intended for use on a rubber blanket cylinder, is secured at its underside to a dimensionally stable support plate. The ends of the multi-layer rubber blanket are not affected by mechanical or chemical cleaning. This is accomplished by sealing the front or end faces of the layers of the multi-layer blanket, which are situated underneath the outer, cover layer of the rubber blanket.

A rubber blanket unit is structured having an underlying support plate with angled end legs, and an overlying rubber blanket with leading and trailing ends. The rubber blanket unit is secured to a blanket cylinder by insertion of the end legs into a thin cylinder slit. The rubber blanket ends are formed each having a reduced thickness and each further having a closure element. The leading and trailing blanket end closures cooperate to form an essentially seamless rubber blanket when the blanket unit is in place. The blanket ends are not dislodged by mechanical or chemical cleaning.

A method for securing a mounting bar to a printing blanket by applying a strip of a hot melt adhesive tape along and adjacent an edge of the blanket, placing the mounting bar along the edge of the blanket upon the tape to form an assembly, and applying heat and pressure to the assembly for a sufficient time to melt the adhesive and securely attach the mounting bar to the blanket. The assembly may be cooled to more rapidly solidify the adhesive so that the assembly can be placed into service without waiting for a long adhesive curing time.

A gapped or seamed cylindrical offset printing blanket having pre-made blanket material mounted on a cylindrical sleeve, and a method for making same, are disclosed, wherein conventional, manufactured blanket material in flat form made by methods known in the art is adhered to a cylindrical sleeve to economically produce a blanket. The leading and trailing ends of the flat blanket material are joined in close proximity such that a small gap is formed. A seam may be made with a filler material that fills the remaining gap resulting in a seamed sleeved blanket. In use, the seam is aligned with non-print area on the adjacent printing plate, or the adjacent plate cylinder gap of the printing press. Being narrower than the plate cylinder gap, no loss of print length results from the seam.
