摘要： A carrier assembly for a fifth wheel mounted on a semi-trailer tractor includes a pair of generally parallel spaced rail assemblies, each comprising a bed plate, a rack of teeth superimposed over the bed plate and a rack cover plate superimposed over the rack of teeth. Bolts extend through the rack cover plate, rack of teeth and bed plate. A slider assembly includes a pair of spaced generally parallel axial elements superimposed over respective bed plates and connected by a transverse element. The slider assembly supports a tooth engaging mechanism that selectively engages the rack of teeth and is spring biased and mechanically biased toward a locked position. Rear stops are removably attached to the carrier assembly. Projections on the bed plate and rack cover plate extend into apertures in the rack of teeth to resist shear forces.

A coupling assembly couples the truck body/semi trailer to the truck chassis and is movable between a truck body configuration in which the frame abuts the truck frame and articulation of the detachable truck body/semi trailer is prevented and a semi trailer configuration wherein the frame is spaced apart from the truck frame and articulation of the detachable truck body/semi trailer is permitted.

摘要： A hitch apparatus for removably coupling a trailer to a tow vehicle provides fore and aft cushioning, vertical cushioning and roll accommodation. When it is mounted on the tow vehicle, a mounting assembly is situate in the truck bed of the tow vehicle and includes a pair of rails pivotally coupled at a first end with the truck bed. A carriage is mounted on the rails by means of a pair of rail guides, each of which slidably receives a corresponding one of the rails, and is thus slidable in directions fore and aft on the tow vehicle. A shock absorber is pivotally, diagonally coupled between the truck bed, at one end, and the lower surface of the carriage at the other end. A cradle is pivotally mounted for side-to-side rocking within the carriage. A hitch adapted to receive the trailer is mounted to the cradle. A first plate is mounted to the second ends of the rails. An air bag is mounted to the truck bed directly underneath the first plate to provide vertical cushioning. A second plate is mounted to the truck bed directly above the first plate to limit upward pivotal movement of the rails, carriage, cradle and hitch.

摘要： A pin retractor operator is provided for use on a trailer having a movable bogie secured to the trailer frame with pins which are retractable by pulling on a handle of a pin retractor. The pin retractor operator includes a case for engaging the bogie, a handle engager coupled to a spring both of which are within the case. A tensioner extends through the case and is coupled to the spring so that linear movement of the tensioner stores energy within the spring when the handle of the pin retractor is received in the handle engager. A regulator coupled to the case controls movement of the tensioner. Tension stored in the spring pulls on the handle of the pin retractor while urging the case against the bogie allowing the trailer to be moved relative to the bogie with the pin retractor operator attached to the bogie. Components of the tensioner are adapted to serve as a positioning mechanism.

摘要： An adjustable fifth wheel hitch includes a support frame having base rails that are secured to the frame of a vehicle and a pair of spaced guide rails that bridge between the base rails. The fifth wheel hitch also includes a head assembly having a jaw assembly for engaging a king pin on a trailer. A head support includes a pair of uprights having sets of rollers for mounting the head assembly for relative fore-and-aft sliding movement along the guide rails between the towing position and a maneuvering position.
