摘要: A device and a method for controlling collision avoidance of a trailer vehicle in platooning include a jackknife induction determination module or operation that determines whether to execute jackknife induction control in a leading vehicle when an emergency braking situation occurs during platooning of the trailer vehicle. The device and method also include a jackknife induction control module or operation that provides an additional braking distance of a following vehicle at the rear of a tractor by inducing pivoting of a trailer while controlling the tractor and trailer of the leading vehicle, respectively, to allow a jackknife phenomenon to occur. Stability of the platooning is improved by reducing a possibility of the occurrence of a collision accident by the following vehicle even during emergency braking.

摘要: A method of stabilizing a parked semi-trailer, the method comprising: (i) repositioning a tractor, with a lift extending forward of a front of the tractor, the lift operatively coupled to a portable trailer stabilizer while at least a portion of the portable trailer stabilizer is elevated above the ground, forward to position the portable trailer stabilizer proximate a forward end of a semi-trailer that is parked; (ii) repositioning the tractor forward to reposition the portable trailer stabilizer at least partially beneath the forward end of the semi-trailer; (iii) repositioning the lift located at the front of the tractor in order to lower the portion of the portable trailer stabilizer to be in contact with the ground when proximate the forward end of the semi-trailer that is parked; (iv) operatively decoupling the portable trailer stabilizer from the lift after the portable trailer stabilizer is in contact with the ground; and, (v) reversing the tractor, after the lift is operatively decoupled from portable trailer stabilizer, to vacate a position in front of the forward end of the semi-trailer while parked.

The apparatus may respond to the presence of a jack-knifing risk condition by reducing or eliminating the motive rotational force applied to the wheels of the towed vehicle.

摘要: A road tractor semi-trailer combination 1 is equipped with a system for detecting the position of a road tractor relative to a semi-trailer. This system comprises a magnet 13 which is accommodated in the center of the bottom of the kingpin and a sensor unit 11 which is fixed to the bottom of the fifth wheel 9. The sensor unit can be displaced between a resting position at a distance from the magnet where the position of the magnet cannot be detected, and an operating position at a distance from the magnet where the position of the magnet can be detected indeed.The fifth wheel is equipped with a handle for displacing a locking pawl which locks the kingpin in the fifth wheel in coupled state of the road tractor and the semi-trailer. This handle is connected via a pulling cable to the sensor unit for displacing the sensor unit to the operating position simultaneously with the displacement of the locking pawl.

摘要: An alarm system for an articulated vehicle includes a first part adapted to attach to a vehicular hitch member, and a second part adapted to attach to a trailering hitch member. The first part includes a conductive post extending vertically between first and second electrical contacts. The post and the first and second electrical contacts form parts of an alarm circuit. The second part includes first and a second arms horizontally extending towards the post in a common plane at an angle with respect to each other. When attached, the first and second parts are disposed so that the first arm moves the post into contact with the first electrical contact as the articulated vehicle turns in a first direction, and so that the second arm moves the post into contact with the second electrical contact as the articulated vehicle turns in a second direction opposite the first direction.

摘要: A fifth wheel assembly comprises a fifth wheel having a plurality of journal bearings extending generally downward from its underside, and an “I-shaped” transverse beam member for mounting the assembly to a truck frame. The beam member is dimensioned to span across parallel longitudinal truck frame members and it includes mounting flanges extending generally downward from either lateral side where the mounting flanges have a plurality of apertures for receiving suitable fasteners inserted therein for mounting said beam member to the truck frame members. The transverse member also includes a plurality of pivot bearing pairs to receive the journal bearings of the fifth wheel which is coupled thereto by a trunnion.
