摘要: An apparatus and method to improve the safety of static line parachute jumping are disclosed. According to the method, a safety device situated on a jumper continuously or periodically senses the distance of the jumper from the jumping platform (e.g. an aircraft). The safety device compares this distance to a predetermined distance threshold. When the distance between the jumper and the jumping platform reaches or exceeds the predetermined distance threshold, the safety device enables the reserve parachute deployment device which automatically deploys the reserve parachute if at such time the jumper's rate-of-descent is at or greater than a predetermined rate-of-descent threshold. Thus, the apparatus enables its reserve parachute deployment portion when the jumper is at least a predetermined distance from the jumping platform.

摘要: This line release is particularly adapted for pulling a releasing line connected to the actuator of a survival kit, has a base which is adapted to be sewn or fixedly secured to one of the straps of a parachute harness, and has a hole through which the actuating line is inserted. The line is secured to a ring in an open recess in the base engageable by a finger to pull the line for actuation. A pivoted spring pressed locking disk is in the bottom of the recess and projects into the ring so as to obstruct and prevent the pulling of the ring unless the disk is first pushed out of the ring.

摘要: A system and method of deploying a parachute system, wherein the system functions with a timed delay or without a timed delay. The system can include a primary static line and a release-away line, wherein the primary static line is connected to a main chute and also to a soft link. The soft link can be cut by a cutter, thereby releasing the parachute system from an aircraft. Alternatively, the primary static line may contain a cable, wherein the cable features a three or more loop assembly that allows for release of the primary static line from the aircraft. The system may also utilize a three ring assembly or other mechanical actuation device. The system may include a drogue chute as well as a main chute.

摘要: Disclosed are various embodiments for an electromagnetic automatic deactivation device (ADD). An ADD may be used with an ejector-spring static line reserve parachute, common in low-altitude military jumps. Activating a reserve parachute from within an aircraft, while being towed by an aircraft, or when trapped inside another parachute, can result in significant injury, and may be fatal. An ADD may be added to the internal packaging of a reserve parachute to prevent its accidental activation. An ADD may be configured to sense ambient pressure, linear and rotational motion, and other data, to identify hazardous environmental conditions. An ADD may be further configured to support a towed jumper whose static line is cut, by strategically deactivating the electromagnetic assembly, and therefore activating the reserve parachute. The ADD may be modified to include the ability to override the ADD with a secondary pull on the ripcord handle.

摘要: A self inflating escape pod in the form of a vest to be worn by an individual to protect their body from a fall when they jump from a high rise building. The vest has a battery, altimeter, motion sensor, bladders and means for inflating the bladders. Removal of the vest from a storage cabinet activates the altimeter which activates the motion detector upon detecting a change in altitude. Upon sensing motion, the motion detector activates inflation of the bladders, forming a pod surround the individual's body. Air channels in the pod provide air to the individual and the pod is designed to accommodate different sizes of individuals. Beacons and reflectors on the pod assist in locating it, and one or more of the bladders will automatically deflate once the individual has stopped falling.
