摘要: A method of and a system for operating a fuel pump management system of an aircraft. The method comprises receiving, from a fuel gauge, an electronic reading of a level of fuel fluid contained in a fuel tank; and analysing the electronic reading of the level of the fuel fluid, the analysing comprising upon determining that the level of fuel fluid is equal or below a predetermined fuel level threshold, causing a fuel pump in communication with the fuel tank to be shut down.

摘要: A system and method for supplementing fuel feed pressure and flow within an aircraft fuel system. The fuel system includes boost and override fuel pumps delivering fuel from the tanks to a fuel manifold, and a jettison fuel pump. The method includes the steps of: (a) sensing whether the aircraft engine is operating near maximum power; (b) upon sensing the condition, operating the jettison fuel pump in fluid interconnection with the override fuel pump to deliver fuel to the fuel manifold; and (c) upon sensing the cessation of the condition, deactivating the jettison fuel pump. The system includes a monitoring circuit signaling when the aircraft engine speed is greater than a predetermined threshold, and a fuel system control circuit operating a jettison fuel pump enable circuit portion in response to the signal while omitting other jettisoning operations. The jettison fuel pump consequently functions as an override fuel pump assist.

摘要: Apparatus and associated methods relate to simultaneously pumping and measuring density of an aircraft fuel. The aircraft fuel is pumped by a centrifugal pump having an impeller. A rotational frequency of the impeller is determined while the centrifugal pump is pumping the aircraft fuel. Flow rate of the aircraft fuel through the centrifugal pump is sensed. Pressure of the aircraft fuel is measured at two different points within or across the centrifugal pump or a differential pressure is measured between the two different points while the centrifugal pump is pumping the aircraft fuel. Density of the aircraft fuel is determined based on a head-curve relation characterizing the centrifugal pump. The head-curve relation relates the fuel density to the rotational frequency, the flow rate, and pressures at the two different points or the differential pressure between the two different points.

摘要: Methods and apparatus for fuel control systems using inertial measurement data are disclosed. In one embodiment, a method for controlling a fuel flow includes comparing an acceleration condition of the aircraft with a predetermined threshold at which normal fuel fluid characteristics begin to become unpredictable, and comparing the acceleration condition with a time-based acceleration profile for a given flight profile. Next, the method determines whether the aircraft is about to enter a prolonged negative acceleration regime. The method further includes maintaining normal fuel control and, after a predetermined amount of time has passed, initiating an alternate fuel source to the engine.

摘要: A combination of a fuel tank assembly and a tool for opening an outlet of the fuel tank assembly. The assembly includes a tank for storing a liquid hydrocarbon; and an operator-openable valve arrangement configured to move between a closed flow condition in which flow through the valve arrangement is prevented and an open flow condition in which liquid is allowed to drain out of the tank. The tool is connectable to the valve arrangement, such that in a connected condition of the tool and the arrangement a liquid flow path exists between the interior and the exterior of the tank. The liquid flow path is at least partly defined by a conduit in the tool. A filter, in the flow path, includes a water-permeable member configured to enable water to pass through the water-permeable member and substantially prevent passage of liquid hydrocarbon.
