Further, a curled-sheet correction device includes an endless belt arranged to circulate in a state of being wrapped around a plurality of guide rollers, and at least one curl correction roller arranged to press the endless belt in such a direction as to narrow a circulating area of the endless belt, wherein, among the plurality of guide rollers, a driving guide roller to which a rotative driving force is imparted is formed to have a straight generatrix, and curl of a curled sheet is corrected while the curled sheet is conveyed jointly by the endless belt and the curl correction roller.

    摘要: The rotation of the second conveyance rollers located downstream from the first conveyance rollers, which are located downstream from the thermal fixing device of the image forming apparatus, is stopped for a prescribed period of time, or the speed of the second conveyance rollers is made slower than that of the first conveyance rollers. A loop is formed in the sheet through this difference in rotation speed, and the curling of the sheet caused through the thermal fixing is corrected. A torque limiter (or one-way clutch) is mounted at least in the drive path for either the first or second conveyance path. When a rigid sheet such as thick paper or low-moisture paper—for which curling is not likely—is conveyed, slipping occurs in the drive path due to the rigidity of the sheet itself, and the loop formation is automatically cancelled. When a high-moisture thin sheet, in which curling is likely, is conveyed, no slipping occurs in the drive path and a loop in the opposite direction from the curling is formed, whereby the curling is reliably corrected.

    摘要: In an electrophotographic image forming apparatus, curling occurs in the sheet when it passes through the thermal fixing device. The invention equips the apparatus with a decurling path having a decurling mechanism and a path without any such mechanism, as well as an alternating claw that guides the sheet to either of the paths, such that the alternating claw 9 alternates between the paths based on the settings for each sheet supply unit that supplies the sheets. The sheets from a sheet supply unit that requires decurling are guided to the decurling path and decurling is performed. On the other hand, sheets from a manual paper tray in which special types of paper, such as transparencies, are often placed are guided to the path without any decurling mechanism and no decurling is performed. Consequently, a sheet decurling apparatus that appropriately decurls the curling of plain paper only and does not perform decurling on special types of paper, such as thick paper or transparencies, may be realized without an increase in cost.

    摘要: Provided is a sheet discharge apparatus including a plurality of stackers on which a sheet discharged from a conveyance passage is stacked, and a gate which changes a discharge direction of the sheet. The gate can move over a first changeover position to guide the sheet to one stacker, and a second changeover position to guide the sheet to the other stacker. When the gate is moved to the second changeover position, the sheet is guided to the other stacker through a bent guide passage. A pressing mechanism is disposed on an upstream side along a conveyance direction of the sheet from the gate. The pressing mechanism applies a pressure and gives a wavy shape to the sheet, and temporarily makes the sheet rigid as long as the gate is in the first position.
