摘要: Separation by distillation and formation of immiscible liquid phases of nearly equal densities which comprises distilling a mixture containing the same in the presence of an added liquid of substantially different density, preferentially soluble in a recycle to the distillation zone and having a volatility under conditions of distillation such that it will vaporize preferentially to a liquid desired to be retained in the distillation zone to be removed as bottoms therefrom, e.g., toluene added to produce gravity separation of a heavy water-rich phase and a light phase containing phenol, cyclohexanone and cyclohexylbenzene and the added toluene which is used as reflux to the drying column in the overall process in which cyclohexanone and phenol are produced from cyclohexylbenzene.

摘要: Plating line passes parts from plating tank to insulated portion of dual chamber strike tank so as to cut drag out concentration by one half to further rinse tanks. Solution in certain rinse tanks passed through reverse osmosis cells and recycled to system. Most concentrated product of reverse osmosis cells placed in holding tank and concentrated therein by cycling through another reverse osmosis cell before periodic return to plating bath.

摘要: 1,152,766. Liquid-phase catalysis. MELLEBEZONS. 16 Feb., 1967 [10 March, 1966], No. 7555/67. Heading B1F. [Also in Division C2] Compounds to be hydrogenated and an excess of hydrogen from 3 to 6 times as large as the hydrogen consumption during the same time or, otherwise expressed, from 4 to 10 cubic metres/hour/sq. decimetre of horizontal cross section of the bath are introduced into a reactor 1 containing a bath of liquid medium of dispersed hydrogenation catalyst. The bath has a fixed level 3 surmounted by a free space for separated hydrogen and comprises an inert solvent for compound(s) to be hydrogenated and the product(s) of hydrogenation which solvent has a boiling temperature above the reaction temperature and may be the compounds in or products of the hydrogenation. The bath is of great height compared with its other dimensions and the compounds to be hydrogenated are introduced at 7 in the lower part of the bath. The hydrogen stream introduced at 4 emulsifies in the liquid medium and is removed at 13 for recycle. An amount of liquid is continuously withdrawn at 9, decanted in 10, the catalyst slurry is returned at 11, the products of the reaction are separated and the solvent recovered is returned to the bath at 11. The fixed level is maintained by returning and adding liquid to compensate for that withdrawn.

摘要: The present invention is directed to both an electrolyte solution for use as a gel electrolyte in an electrolytic cell, and a process for making both the electrolyte gel and the electrolytic cell. The electrolyte solution comprises a polymerizable electrolyte material and a reinforcement polymer. The reinforcement polymer preferably consists of at least poly(methyl methacrylate), while the polymerizable electrolyte material comprises at least a solvent, a monomer, a polymerization initiator, and an ionic conductor. The use of a reinforcement polymer increases the homogeneity and thus the coatability of the electrolytic solution, while also improving the mechanical properties of the cured electrolyte gel.

摘要: Concentrated, stable water-in-oil emulsions of water-soluble or water-swellable polymers are prepared by polymerization of one or more water-soluble ethylenically unsaturated monomers in a water-in-oil emulsion and removal of water from the water-in-oil polymer emulsion by azeotropic distillation, by a method in which superheated vapor of an inert organic solvent which is immiscible with water is passed into the water-in-oil polymer emulsion. Using the process, it is also possible to concentrate emulsions which tend to coagulate or water-in-oil emulsions which are sensitive to shearing, without the polymers losing their effectiveness.
