摘要： A method comprising: (a) providing a partially processed sucrose crop product containing at least 2% optionally at least 5% of the sucrose content of said crop at harvest on a dry solids basis, cellulose and lignin; (b) hydrolyzing said partially processed crop product with HCl to produce an acid hydrolyzate stream and a lignin stream; and (c) de-acidifying said hydrolyzate stream to produce a de-acidified sugar solution and an HCl recovery stream. 摘要： A machine for the reduction of various materials comprises a rotor within a casing, the rotor being provided on its periphery with a plurality of rigidly mounted blades the tips of which are formed to act as hammers which rotate close past a yieldingly mounted serrated anvil to form a so-called shredder. Arrangements are such that the material to be reduced may be either fed directly into the shredder or first cut by the blades before entering the shredder, whereas the oscillating anvil acts as a shock absorber during operation.

摘要： The manufacture of a cylinder, particularly for use in sugar mills, which has an exterior surface defining circular grooves of a cross section having the shape of a triangle, each triangle having an apex at a bottom of the groove in a respective transverse plane extending substantially perpendicularly to the axis of the cylinder, and the bottom of each groove being in communication with longitudinal channels extending substantially parallel to the axis in the cylinder, is simplified by inserting plugs into radial channels in the cylinder in a plurality of the transverse planes before making the circular grooves which are cut into the plugs into the inner ends of which are formed circular slots of sufficient length to connect the grooves to the longitudinal channels.
