The present invention further provides a pre-sheared, flat electroconductive blank having two major surfaces and coated with a multi-layer composite coating composition on one major surface. The present invention also provides a method for coating a continuous metal strip, optionally, thereafter forming a coated blank therefrom, and, optionally, applying a second coating to the blank.

The present invention provides a multilayer film composition wherein at least two layers of the multilayer film composition are applied via electrophoretic deposition processes. In a preferred embodiment, the first layer of the multilayer film composition is a conductive film layer applied by a cationic electrodeposition process with a second layer applied directly to the conductive first layer via a cathodic electrodeposition process. Preferably, the second layer of the cathodic electrocoat coating composition comprises a carbamate functional cathodic resin.

A coating film-forming method that includes a first step that involves coating a cationic electrodeposition coating composition (A) containing an electrically conducting agent, followed by washing with water and heat curing and drying to form a cured cationic electrodeposition coating film. A second step that involves coating such an anionic electrodeposition coating composition (B). The coating film formed therefrom has a chromatic color or a white color as an achromatic color onto the cured cationic electrodeposition coating film. The vehicle bodies are subsequently introduced into the treatment tank in the headfirst position, conveyed through the treatment tank and brought out of the treatment tank again in the headfirst position.
