摘要: A separable tow of elongated polymeric filaments comprises a plurality of distinct sub-tows lightly and individually and separably joined, as by light crimping together along their edges or, if uncrimped, joined by presence of moisture, and capable of being packed into a container and later removed and separated. The filaments are preferably acrylic and have a total fineness of about 300,00-1,500,000 denier and the sub-tows each of which has a total fineness of about 50,000-250,000 denier, with a filament fineness of about 1-2 denier, and each sub-tow has a degree of entanglement of about 10-40 mnull1 as measured by the hook drop test. The separable tow is made of a plurality of sub-tows, after separately drawing the sub-tows and subsequently removably joining the sub-tows into a single tow.

These fibers are prepared by melt-spinning the copolymer and then drawing the resulting fibers, the spinning process being conducted using a polymer melt free of crystallization nuclei at a temperature of at most 40 K above the melting temperature of the polymer Tm(in K) and the drawing of the fibers being conducted at a temperature in the range of Tmcnull15 K to Tmcnull90 K, with Tmc representing the constrained melting temperature, at a draw ratio in the range of 5 to 12 and a drawing tension corrected for temperature DTd.corr. in the range of 105 to 300 mN/tex. The fibers are pre-eminently suitable for use as reinforcing yarn in rubber articles such as car tires.

摘要: A method of converting a plastics material into a yarn in which the plastics material comprises one or more polymers selected from the group consisting of nylon, polyesters, polyethylene, polyvinyl chloride, polyphenylene sulphide, polystyrene. The method comprises heating the material to melt it, pumping the melted material through an extruder to form an extruded filament, and cooling the extruded filament. The cooled filament is passed through a first draw roller assembly while elevating the temperature of the filament. The filament is then heated in a heating zone as it exits the first draw roller assembly and, thereafter, the filament is passed through a second draw roller assembly operating at a different linear speed to the first draw roller assembly. The filament is spooled after exiting the second draw roller assembly.

摘要: An elasticity-processing method for wet suit fabric pieces is disclosed, by which a wet suit fabric piece laminated with a knitted high-elastic cloth is pressed tightly with two sets of rubber squeeze rollers under different rotation speeds to cause an expansion effect on the fabric piece, separate and destroy the weave circle of the weave of the knitted cloth and produce an elasticity to the whole piece of the fabric. In comparison with the conventional low-elastic and high-modulus wet suit fabric pieces, the fabric pieces made with such a process has a high elasticity and low modulus, and is capable to improve the elasticity of wet suits in professional applications. The wet suits made of such fabric are more fitted, softer and more comfortable.

摘要: Improved polypropylene fibers exhibiting greatly reduced heat- and moisture-shrink problems are provided. Such fibers require the presence of certain compounds that quickly and effectively provide rigidity to the target polypropylene fiber after heat-setting. Generally, these compounds include any structure that nucleates polymer crystals within the target polypropylene after exposure to sufficient heat to melt the initial pelletized polymer and upon allowing such a melt to cool. The compounds must nucleate polymer crystals at a higher temperature than the target polypropylene without the nucleating agent during cooling. In such a manner, the nullrigidifyingnull nucleator compounds provide nucleation sites for polypropylene crystal growth. After drawing the nucleated composition into fiber form, the fiber is then exposed to sufficient heat to grow the crystalline network, thus holding the fiber in a desired position. The preferred nullrigidifyingnull compounds include dibenzylidene sorbitol based compounds, as well as less preferred compounds, such as sodium benzoate, certain sodium and lithium phosphate salts (such as sodium 2,2null-methylene-bis-(4,6-di-tert-butylphenyl)phosphate, otherwise known as NA-11). Specific methods of manufacture of such fibers, as well as fabric articles made therefrom, are also encompassed within this invention.
