    摘要: A process comprising: (i) providing a first polyethylene, prepared independently, having a melt index in the range of about 5 to about 3000 grams per 10 minutes and a density in the range of about 0.900 to about 0.975 gram per cubic centimeter and a second polyethylene, prepared independently, having a flow index in the range of about 0.01 to about 30 grams per 10 minutes and a density in the range of about 0.860 to about 0.940 gram per cubic centimeter, the weight ratio of the first polyethylene to the second polyethylene being in the range of about 75:25 to about 25:75; (ii) blending the first polyethylene with the second polyethylene; (iii) melting the blend; and, prior to extrusion or pelletizing, (iv) passing the molten blend through one or more active screens, in the case of two or more active screens, positioned in series, each active screen having a micron retention size in the range of about 2 to about 70, at a mass flux of about 5 to about 100 pounds per hour per square inch.

    摘要: A method and apparatus for melt spinning molten polymeric material into filaments, preferably embodied in the form of a spin pack assembly, utilizes an annular polymer filter formed of a screen mesh material to have a U-shaped axial cross-section defining an open end oriented to face upwardly for receiving polymer within the annular interior of the screen to flow outwardly therefrom to a downstream spinneret for extrusion. The filter eliminates any need to utilize sand or other filter material contained by the screen as a primary or auxiliary filtration medium and enables effective polymer flow substantially through the entire surface area of the screen without stagnation of material flow.

    摘要: The present invention provides a method for producing a formed article from a dope comprising a polyphosphoric acid solvent and a polymer soluble in polyphosphoric acid, which includes using a production apparatus containing an apparatus for stirring and uniformly dispersing or homogenizing a dope and a pump apparatus for delivering the uniformly dispersed or homogeneous dope, wherein at least one of the apparatus and the pump apparatus has a part that comes into contact with the dope. According to the present invention, maintenance frequency of production facility due to the corrosion and elution of metal in a recovered solvent can be reduced, which in turn decreases the production cost.

    摘要: Polyester multi-filamentary yarn, useful as tire reinforcement, is produced by melting polyester resin at 290° C. or below including at least 90 mol % of polyethylene terephthalate with intrinsic viscosity of 0.7-1.2; filtering the molten resin for filtering retention time of ten minutes or below; spinning the filtered, molten resin by extrusion through a nozzle which has 250-500 holes, each ranging in diameter from 0.5 mm to 1.2 mm with a length/diameter ratio from 2 to 5; primarily quenching the extruded yarn at a temperature of 100-195° C. in a zone of 50 mm or more distance directly below the nozzle; secondarily quenching the yarn with air at its glass transition temperature (Tg) or below; taking off the yarn at spinning stress of 0.3 g/d or greater; drawing taken-off yarn at total draw ratio of 1.3 or greater; and thermally treating the yarn at temperature 150-230° C.
