Abstract: A thermally adhesive fiber web implemented by including the steps of: (1) preparing respectively a first spinning solution in which a support component and a second spinning solution in which a thermally adhesive component; (2) performing electrospinning such that the first spinning solution is discharged to a portion of the end surface of a discharge port and the second spinning solution is discharged to the remaining portion, thereby accumulating side-by-side type thermally adhesive composite fibers having a diameter of less than 1 μm; and (3) applying heat to the accumulated side-by-side type thermally adhesive composite fibers. The thermally adhesive fiber web enables easy interfacial bonding to a heterogeneous material with a different material and structural specification and prevents pores formed in an initial stage from being closed during thermal bonding.

Abstract: A system for preparing a polylactic acid (PLA) spunbond nonwoven fabric is provided. In particular, the system includes a first PLA source configured to provide a stream of molten or semi-molten PLA resin; a spin beam in fluid communication with the first PLA source, the spin beam configured to extrude and draw a plurality of PLA continuous filaments; a collection surface disposed below an outlet of the spin beam onto which the PLA continuous filaments are deposited to form the PLA spunbond nonwoven fabric; a first ionization source positioned and arranged to expose the PLA continuous filaments to ions; and a calender positioned downstream of the first ionization source.

Abstract: A multicomponent fiber for nonwovens and methods for making and using same. The multicomponent fiber can include a first component comprising a first polypropylene having a MFR of at least 30 dg/min and a second polypropylene having a MFR of less than 20 dg/min. The multicomponent fiber can further include a second component comprising the first polypropylene and at least one propylene-based elastomer comprising propylene and about 10 wt % to about 30 wt % of one or more alpha-olefin derived units, based on a total weight of the elastomer, wherein the propylene-based elastomer has a MFR of at least 40 dg/min and a heat of fusion (Hi) of about 3 J/g to about 75 J/g, as determined by DSC.

Abstract: Provided are bicomponent fibers with improved curvature. The bicomponent fibers comprise a first polymer region or first region and a second polymer region or second region. The first region according to embodiments of the present disclosure comprises an ethylene/alpha-olefin interpolymer and has a light scattering cumulative detector fraction (CDFLS) of greater than 0.1200, wherein the CDFLS is computed by measuring the area fraction of a low angle laser light scattering (LALLS) detector chromatogram greater than, or equal to, 1,000,000 g/mol molecular weight using Gel Permeation Chromatography (GPC). The second region comprises a polyester. The bicomponent fibers can be used for forming nonwovens.

Abstract: There is provided an apparatus for drawing a fibre, the apparatus comprising, a first outlet for dispensing a volume of a first polyionic polymer solution; and a second outlet for dispensing a volume of a second oppositely charged polyionic polymer solution; said second outlet disposed adjacent to the first outlet such that the polymer solutions dispensed therefrom are capable of contacting each other to form a fused droplet comprising a polyelectrolyte complex interface separating the first polyionic and second polyionic polymer solutions; wherein the fused droplet is arranged to move along a fibre drawing path under gravitational force in an opposing direction from the first and second outlets such that nascent fibre is drawn from the polyelectrolyte complex interface. There is also provided a method of drawing the fibre.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for producing a nonwoven fabric from fibres, wherein the fibres are spun by means of at least one spinneret, are cooled and then deposited on a collection device to form a nonwoven web. The nonwoven web undergoes hot fluid bonding during at least two consecutive bonding steps. In a first bonding step, the surface of the nonwoven web is subjected to a hot fluid and, in a second bonding step, the surface of the nonwoven web is also subsequently subjected to a hot fluid and, in addition and at the same time, surface pressure is exerted on the nonwoven web.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for making a spunbonded high loft nonwoven web comprising crimped multicomponent fibers, the process comprising continuously spinning the fibers, directing the fibers to a spin-belt by deflectors and/or air streams, laying down the fibers on the spinbelt and pre-consolidating the fibers after laydown using one or more pre-consolidation rollers to form a pre-consolidated web, wherein a first component of the fibers comprises a PP homopolymer and a second component of the fibers comprises a PP/PE copolymer, wherein the pre-consolidation rollers are operated at a temperature of smaller 110° C. and/or a linear contact force of smaller 5 N/mm.

Abstract: An apparatus for making a spunbond nonwoven from monofilaments of thermoplastic synthetics has a spinneret for spinning and emitting the filaments in a travel direction, a cooler downstream of the spinneret for cooling the spun filaments, and a stretcher downstream of the cooler for stretching the filaments. An intermediate passage extending in the travel direction between the cooler and the stretcher has upstream and downstream converging passage sections. The upstream passage section in the travel direction of the filaments having a shorter length than the downstream passage section in the travel direction of the filaments. A ratio BE/BA of an inlet width BE to an outlet width BA of the upstream passage section is 1.5 to 5.5. A ratio of an inlet width bE, to an outlet width bA, of the downstream passage section is 1 to 4.
