A woven 3D fabric material comprises multilayer axial warp yarns and two orthogonal sets of weft which interlace with the rows and the columns of the warp respectively to provide integrity to the fabric which may additionally incorporate between the rows and the columns of the interlacing warp sets of non-interlacing multi-directionally orientated yarns in the fabric-length, -width, -thickness, and two diagonal directions respectively to improve the fabric's mechanical properties. The interlacing of the multilayer warp and the two orthogonal sets of weft is enabled by a dual-directional shedding means which forms sheds in the row-wise and the column wise directions of the multilayer warp. The produced woven 3D fabric material which may be cut into any desired shape without the risk of splitting up, may be wholly or in parts in technical applications.

An arrangement for the holding of a weft thread for a series shed weaving machine has a holder apparatus (11) for the weft thread (4). Two forwarding elements (12, 13) are arranged at both sides of the holder apparatus and are movable relative to the holder apparatus in order to introduce the weft thread. The weft thread (4) extends transversely to the holder apparatus and transversely to the holder apparatus and transversely to the direction of movement of the forwarding elements, into the holder apparatus and furthermore, an apparatus (14) in order to catch and to tension the weft thread. The holder apparatus comprises a thread clamp (15) with a stationary clamping part (17) and a movable clamping part (18) which is under spring action and which forms a clamping gap (27). The weft thread is held in a stretch state by the forwarding elements (12, 13) and the apparatus (14) and is displaceable transversely through the clamping gap. The required clamping force can be set in an advantageous manner through the thread clamp.

Each independently controllable bias arm may releasably grip one of the bias fiber holders and translate it vertically, at one of the predetermined horizontal positions, with a range of motion extending at least between two of the bias shuttles.

A second module encloses the weaving area and harness, and comprises a device for evacuating used air. The arrangement reduces environmental pollution caused by noise, dust or process steam in a weaving shed, considerably improves operator comfort at the weaving machine and significantly decreases accident risk.

An on-machine-seamable papermaker's fabric, which may be produced by modified endless weaving, includes machine-direction (MD) and cross-machine-direction (CD) yarns. When so produced, the MD yarns weave continuously back and forth between the two widthwise edges of the fabric, each time forming a seaming loop at one of the two widthwise edges. Interwoven with at least one of the two sides, top and bottom, of the seaming loops at one or both widthwise edges are at least two additional CD yarns. The additional CD yarns interweave with the top and/or bottom of the seaming loops in a leno weave, which keeps the seaming loops in a common position vertically relative to the plane of the papermakers fabric, locks the seaming loops into a desired position and orientation with their planes perpendicular to that of the papermaker's fabric.
