摘要: A perforation cluster of a longitudinal section of a wellbore is provided. The wellbore is for hydraulic fracturing in a preferred direction of a subsurface surrounding the longitudinal section. The longitudinal section has a longitudinal axis in a longitudinal direction and defining a radial direction about the longitudinal axis. The perforation cluster includes all of the perforations of the wellbore within the longitudinal section. The perforations are separated in the longitudinal and radial directions. Two perforations are adjacent in the longitudinal direction and have a first diameter. They also have respective centers that are aligned in the preferred direction with respect to the longitudinal axis and 180° apart in the radial direction, for initiating fractures through hydraulic fracturing in the subsurface. The remaining perforations have a second diameter smaller than the first diameter.

摘要: System and methods for providing a fluid flow path through a lower casing and a cement of a subterranean well includes a plurality of perforation tubes extending through a sidewall of a lower casing, the perforation tubes moveable from a retracted position to an extended position. In the retracted position a minor length of the perforation tubes is located outside of an outer diameter surface of the lower casing. In the extended position, a major length of the perforation tubes is located outside of the outer diameter surface of the lower casing, the major length being greater than the minor length. In the extended position, the perforation tubes extend radially outward from the outer diameter surface of the lower casing. Each of the plurality of perforation tubes is positioned axially along the lower casing to be moveable to an extended position in a formation zone of the subterranean well.

摘要: In accordance with embodiments of the present disclosure, systems and methods for safely, and cost-effectively activating a mechanical perforator using a pyrotechnic initiated hydrostatic activating mechanism. The mechanism includes a piston connected to a power rod. The piston is activated by the rupturing of a disc, which separates a first chamber from a second chamber containing the piston. Upon rupturing of the disc, wellbore fluids fill the second chamber forcing the piston to move from a first position to a second position, which causes activation of the mechanical perforator. The first chamber may optionally be filled with a pressurized gas, such as nitrogen or air, to add a boost assist to activation of the piston.

摘要: A bottom hole assembly (BHA) and methods of using the BHA, the BHA having at least one tool configured to move between the interior and the exterior by fluid pumped down a string. The tool is configured to create a hole in a wellbore tubular, such as casing, tubing, or a liner. The BHA includes a ramp positioned adjacent to the tool to guide the tool to engage the tubular. The tool may be a mill configured to cut a hole in the tubular or a punch member configured to punch a hole in the tubular. A packing element of the BHA enables fluid to be pumped down the annulus and through the hole to treat and/or fracture the formation. The tool may be positioned between two packing elements and fluid may be pumped down the string and through a portion of the tool to treat and/or fracture the formation.
