摘要: A stationary gas turbine plant in which a bearing for the bladed rotor is located at the exhaust end of the casing where the flow passage for the exhaust gas merges into an annular diffusor ring surrounding the bearing housing and which is established by radially spaced circular walls interconnected by means of an array of circumferentially spaced radially extending aero-foil shaped ribs. Two of these ribs extending divergently in a generally downward direction toward the foundation for the turbine are made hollow for the purpose of passing support struts through them, the upper ends of these struts being secured to the bearing housing and the lower ends of the struts being secured to the foundation. Additional supports are provided at opposite sides of the casing at the exhaust end, these supports also being secured to the foundation. The two downwardly directed hollow ribs and the two additional supports for the casing incorporate ducts through which a fluid coolant is circulated, and the coolant which passes through the two hollow ribs enters the bearing casing. The coolant can be ambient air, or gland sealing air, or the bearing lubricant and it can also be the same fluid as is used for cooling the rotor.

摘要: An apparatus for generating electricity from water flow comprises a convergent section, a diffuser section and tube for locating within a body of water. The convergent section is connected to a first end of a mixing chamber such that a venturi is defined between the end of the convergent section and the mixing chamber. The diffuser section is connected to a second end of the mixing chamber, the diffuser section configured such that in use the pressure at the exit of the diffuser section is greater than the pressure at the venturi. At least part of the tube is located in the convergent section, such that an annulus is defined between the tube and the convergent section, to form a first flow passage. The tube defines a second flow passage within the tube; and a turbine connectable to a generator is located within the tube.

摘要: An arrangement for a steam engine power plant with a steam generator, a steam buffer, and a timing valve for a steam engine of a displacement type with a range of cut-offs and motion in both driving and braking directions. Engine braking to the steam engine is provided when the timing valve opens the inlet to the cylinder to admit steam when the piston in the cylinder is moving toward top dead center while feed water is simultaneously being injected into the cylinder to collect the braking energy by being formed into steam. This steam and its energy can then be collected by the steam buffer for future use by the steam engine.

摘要: A pneumatic regenerative system for a railway vehicle equipped with a plurality of axles includes a plurality of pneumatic drive mechanisms coupled to each of the plurality of axles. Each pneumatic drive mechanism includes an accumulator and a pneumatic device. The pneumatic device may in some examples be a reversible air motor device. The accumulator is operable to receive and store pressurized air. The reversible air motor device is coupled to the accumulator and one of the plurality of axles of the vehicle. The reversible air motor device is operable in a first configuration and a second configuration. During a braking operation of the railway vehicle, the reversible air motor device in the first configuration is driven by rotation of the one of the plurality of axles to generate and store pressurized air in the accumulator. During an acceleration operation, of the railway vehicle the reversible air motor device receives pressurized air from the accumulator to drive rotation of the one of the plurality of axles.
