Abstract:
A wave energy converter utilizes a flotation module that rises and falls with the passage of waves, a submerged tube containing a constriction which multiplies the speed of the water passing therethrough, a turbine (or other hydrokinetic apparatus) positioned so as to extract energy from the accelerated flow of water within and/or through the tube, and a submerged gas- or liquid-filled chamber housing one or more energy conversion components (e.g. generators, transformers, rectifiers, inverters). By providing a chamber in proximity to the turbine, generators can be placed in closer proximity to the turbine that turns them, and the shared shaft can be shorter than if the generators were placed in the buoy adjacent to the surface.
Abstract:
This invention discloses an improved wind turbine suitable for mounting without a wind turbine tower. The wind turbine is based on a rotor with appropriately selected blades. A nozzle and diffuser in the wind flow increase the amount of wind energy available to the rotor. The rotor is interruptibly connected with one or more of a plurality of generators which allows generation at a wide range of wind speeds. The rotor is also interruptibly connected with a co-axial flywheel which allows for storage or use of rotational energy as needed by the availability of wind energy. One or more wind turbines can be grouped together in a common housing. Electricity can also be generated by means of stored energy or other motive source. The lack of a wind turbine tower and the general compact design allows the wind turbine to be used in close proximity to or on buildings.

Abstract:
A fluid power-extraction machine is immersed in an ambient flow of a fluid, captures (and extracts energy from) a portion of the fluid, and discharges it back into the ambient flow. The machine includes a housing bounding a fluid intake inlet and including an ambient flow deflector, a downstream body arranged rearwardly from the deflector and forming a discharge outlet between the deflector and the downstream body, and a power extraction device in a fluid flow channel communicating from the fluid intake inlet to the discharge outlet. The deflector outwardly deflects and accelerates a portion of the ambient flow adjacent to the discharge outlet. A mixing surface of the downstream body extends outwardly and rearwardly from the discharge outlet, mixing the accelerated flow, the discharged flow and the ambient flow together along the mixing surface. A backflow preventer of the downstream body prevents wake backflow from impeding discharge of spent flow at the discharge outlet.
Abstract:
An apparatus for generating electricity from water flow comprises a convergent section, a diffuser section and tube for locating within a body of water. The convergent section is connected to a first end of a mixing chamber such that a venturi is defined between the end of the convergent section and the mixing chamber. The diffuser section is connected to a second end of the mixing chamber, the diffuser section configured such that in use the pressure at the exit of the diffuser section is greater than the pressure at the venturi. At least part of the tube is located in the convergent section, such that an annulus is defined between the tube and the convergent section, to form a first flow passage. The tube defines a second flow passage within the tube; and a turbine connectable to a generator is located within the tube.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a cyclonic or anti-cyclonic conversion generator comprising a hollow and rigid structure (1) having at the upper end thereof diffusing deflectors (2) to produce a venturi effect and means for converting the kinetic energy of the outside wind into electrical energy, said hollow and rigid structure comprising: means for generating a primary flow (3) and means for generating a secondary flow (4) or vortex core, using convectors (5), (6); and means that facilitate the vertical movement of the primary flow and the secondary flow, using slopes that increase the peripheral flow (12) or a central protrusion or convex surface (11). The generator can be used for generating cyclones and anti-cyclones and can be used with any fluid, such as wind or water. The generator allows the speed of the fluid to be increased, concentrating said fluid on the periphery, which results in improved performance and effectiveness.
Abstract:
Water flow power generation apparatus, includes an upper bracket and a lower bracket. The transmission and the generator are located above the upper bracket, there are at least two reverse direction rotating water wheels fixed between the upper bracket and the lower bracket. Every vane of one wheel extends into the space between two adjacent wanes of the other wheel, and the same end of each water wheel is fixed with some synchromesh gears, respectively. A sharp-angled shape guide object is fixed at the water inlet end of the water wheels between the upper bracket and the lower bracket. The resulting structure can not only improve the utilization ratio of water power, but also improve the generating efficiency; moreover, the whole generating apparatus is of simple structure, low cost for design and manufacture and easy installation, and applicable to various water flows.
