摘要： A rapid-fire automatic gun is provided with a first magazine for a smaller number of rounds, and a second magazine for a greater number of rounds. The magazines include first and second round advancement members. The first of the round advancement members is controlled by the automatic gun itself, therefore round advancement speed, in the first magazine, is dependent upon the gun firing rate. The second round advancement members is driven by a driver which provides a maximum round advancement speed in the second magazine, for example 300 rounds per minute, considerably less than the maximum round advancement speed in the first magazine. When a difference in advancement speeds of the first and second magazines occurs, a transferring member for transferring rounds from the second to the first magazine provides gap formation in the row of rounds in the first magazine by successively filling them during and after firing.

摘要： The entrance and exit units to an ammunition feed system are provided with a foolproof timing arrangement wherein the units and drum are both in timed position when being mated together and also when being disengaged. The exit and/or entrance units are held in timed position by a spring loaded lever while disconnected and the lever is automatically released when the unit is mounted to the drum, allowing the shafts to turn with the drum. The drum may be held in timed position when the entrance and/or exit units are disconnected or may be allowed to rotate by releasing spring loaded mounting pins.

摘要： In the case of delayed firing of a cartridge or a so-called hang-fire condition in an externally powered firing weapon there must be prevented that further cartridges are fed into the firing weapon. In a known safety or monitoring apparatus of this type a deflector must be pivoted such that the infed cartridges, instead of arriving at the firing weapon, arrive at an ejection channel. The change-over of this deflector requires high acceleration forces because a great mass must be pivoted through a large pivot angle in a short period of time. In accordance with the invention the deflector comprises two segment members which are displaceable in the direction of the cartridge axes, one of which segment members selectively protrudes into the travel path of the cartridges.

The items are provided serially to an inlet to the housing by a chain ladder or other mechanical means, and are longitudinally and axially re-oriented in the housing for transfer out of the housing. The drum is rotatable about its axis to provide further re-orientation of the items. All internal components of the rotatable drum are synchronously driven by mechanical means, and positive mechanical control of the serially supplied items is maintained at all times.

摘要： A linkless ammunition magazine for guns includes an endless, shell-holding conveyor having two, spaced apart bicycle-type chains which are entrained over several pairs of guides that confine the conveyor to a convoluted path within a housing. During firing of an associated gun, an externally driven sprocket drives the conveyor in a direction advancing conveyor-held shells towards a shell transfer position located just downstream of the drive sprocket. A pair of guides located just upstream of the shell transfer position, is compliantly mounted to deflect in response to fast start up of the drive sprocket upon initiating of firing, in a direction enabling only a short segment of the conveyor upstream of the transfer position to move before further upstream portions of the conveyor start moving, fast shell feeding from the onset of firing being thereby enabled. A second pair of guides located downstream of the transfer position is also compliantly mounted, and is interconnected by a transfer arm with the first pair of compliantly mounted guides so as to deflect in unison therewith in a direction preventing any slack in the conveyor.
