    摘要: A penetration bomb has a resistant body containing an explosive composition. The body has a rear portion connected by an intermediate portion to a front portion of reduced diameter. While the rear portion has a high explosive content, typically higher than 75%, the front portion has a thick content of explosive charge, typically about 15%. The intermediate zone is approximately frustoconical for transferring kinetic energy from the rear portion to the front portion which acts as a penetrator before firing of its explosive content.

    摘要: A guided missile is directed to railroad tracks, is buried a particular distance, such as five (5) feet, below the tracks upon reaching the tracks and is covered by rocks in the railroad bed as it moves the particular distance below the tracks. The guided missile detonates when the train approaches on the tracks within a particular distance from the guided missile on the tracks. The train then becomes derailed. The guided missile has a housing which is made from a strong metal and which is relatively thick. Preferably the metal is steel and has a thickness of about 0.2". A nose cone having a blunt configuration is disposed on the housing at the front end of the housing and is made from a material which passes signals into and out of the housing. The material is compressible (e.g. fiberglass, a ceramic or a glass) to become flattened when the missile strikes the ground. A bulkhead preferably having a greater thickness than the housing is disposed in the housing at an intermediate position along the housing length. The bulkhead may be made from the same material as the housing. A seeker including an antenna is disposed in the housing between the nose cone and the bulkhead to transmit signals to the tracks and receive information from the tracks. A warhead is disposed within the housing on the opposite side of the bulkhead from the nose cone. A fuse is disposed within the housing at the rear of the housing to detonate the warhead when the train approaches the missile on the tracks.

    摘要: A bomblet has a casing and a targeting device provided with a reflector swingably secured to the casing. The reflector has a position of rest in which it is situated within a cross-sectional outline of the casing and a working position in which it is in a deployed state externally of the casing. A first guide arm is articulated to the reflector to provide for a relative pivotal motion about a first pivotal axis, and to the casing to provide for a relative pivotal motion about a second pivotal axis. A second guide arm is articulated to the reflector to provide for a relative pivotal motion about a third pivotal axis, and to the casing to provide for a relative pivotal motion about a fourth pivotal axis. All the pivotal axes are parallel to and spaced from one another and are perpendicular to the central longitudinal axis of the bomblet. The guide arms guide the reflector in a swinging motion from the position of rest into the working position. The reflector has a center of gravity located, in the position of rest, offset from the longitudinal axis in a direction of the swinging motion, whereby, upon rotary motion of the bomblet, the reflector is moved by centrifugal forces from the position of rest into the working position. Further, a locking engagement is provided for immobilizing the reflector in the working position.

    摘要: A structural improvement to, and a method of improving, an air-dropped spin-actuated bomb of the anti-personnel type. The structural improvement comprises a split flexible polyethylene obturating disc which replaces the prior art rigid metal obturating disc used on these bombs. The improved disc is releasably connected to the bomb, whereas the prior art disc is fixedly attached to the bomb. The method comprises the step of disposing and releasably connecting the split flexible polyethylene obturating disc to the bomb at a location between the forward body section of the bomb and the aft fin section thereof. The result of the use of the structural improvement, and of the improvement method, is that the arming of the bomb is delayed, so that the bomb, which could only be safely air-dropped from a low speed aircraft, now can also be air-dropped from a high speed, or a very high speed, aircraft.

    摘要: The invention relates to a mine or drop bomb having an effective load, a shaped charge, and an antenna which encompasses a target recognition device. In order to achieve on the one hand a rugged, arrangement which can withstand high acceleration forces, and, on the other hand, provide an optimum functioning of the antenna, the antenna is axially outwardly slidable, so that it can move from an inoperative, respectively transport, position into an operative position. For this purpose the antenna is mounted on a plurality of columns, which are equi-angularly disposed about the periphery of the arrangement and are slidable within guide means disposed in the housing of the arrangement. The antenna may be deployed by an inflatable gaseous container. In one embodiment the container may comprise an explosive gaseous mixture which ignites to break-off the antenna from the device before the mine explodes.
