    摘要: Protective device for protection of rapidly moving objects such as aircraft or the like against homing heads that react to radiation, in particular infrared radiation, emitted by the aircraft, and that have a destructive charge. The protective device has at least one dispenser arranged on the object to be protected, and at least one effective body (flare), such as a spot flare or the like, that can be launched therefrom. The effective body has at least one decoy charge that can be at least partially ignited at a distance from the object and which, upon decomposition, temporarily forms an apparent target body that spectrally simulates, in a way relevant to the homing head, the target signature of the object to be protected. The effective body (flare) has at least one mooring line that unfolds from a dispenser upon launching of the effective body (flare) and that can be connected with the dispenser at one free end, whose end facing away from its free end is essentially permanently connected to the effective body (flare).

    摘要: A decoy flare for infrared (IR) seeking missiles comprises a tubular outer shell with a first rupturing disc sealing a rear end of the outer shell and a cover member with a second rupturing disc sealing a front end of the outer shell. These form a sealed container for a pyrophoric liquid. A nozzle cap is attached to the cover member with a nozzle being located in front of the second rupturing disc. A piston in the container adjacent the first rupturing disc separates the pyrophoric liquid from the disc. A holder for a gas generator, a disc of energetic material, is connected in sealed relationship to the container to position the gas generator adjacent the first rupturing disc and form a gas generating chamber between the holder and that disc. That holder contains an ignition mechanism for the gas generator and a seal to prevent gases from escaping via the ignition mechanism after it is activated. Gases generated in the chamber will rupture the first rupturing disc, pushing the piston forward to rupture the second disc and eject pyrophoric liquid from the nozzle. A base portion connected to the flare forms a holder for an impulse cartridge that separates the flare from the base portion when activated, that separation activating the ignition mechanism. In these decoy flares, a friction wire safety ignition mechanism may be used to activate the gas generator upon separation of the flare from the base or, alternatively, a bore rider safety ignition mechanism may be used.

    摘要: A non-pyrotechnic reusable cartridge for ejecting countermeasures, such as chaff, flares, or other payloads. The cartridge comprises a gas chamber storing a compressed gas and including an ejection mechanism and a countermeasure storage section storing a countermeasure. In one embodiment, the ejection mechanism is a solenoid valve. When an ejection signal is transmitted by the pilot, the solenoid valve opens to allow the compressed, non-flammable gas to be released from the gas chamber and push the countermeasure out of the cartridge at a high rate of speed. Other embodiments use a rupture disk positioned between the ejection section and the countermeasure storage section. When an eject signal is received, the rupture disk is either punctured or melted to allow the compressed gas into the storage section, thus ejecting the countermeasure. A non-pyrotechnic ejection mechanism allows safer handling, flashless dispensing, reuse of the cartridge, varied ejection force, and economical reloading with a variety of payloads.

Thus it is possible for the same volume of ammunition to have a larger number of shots and to carry out the loading of the ammunition simply and quickly. The cartridge (1) consists of a sole (2) fixed to a case (3), in which are accommodated a plurality of assemblies (11) comprising pyrotechnical ejection charges (6), pyromechanical assemblies (7), ignition charges (8), effective charges (9) and the caps (10). The case (3) is provided with a plurality of receptacles and comprises at its base a blocking device (4). The assemblies (11) are independent and are arranged in parallel in the various receptacles of the case (3); the sole (2) is common to the various receptacles of the case (3) and is provided with electrical fuses.

    摘要: A multiple payload cartridge connectible to a source of firing signals by two connecting wires having a first and a second branch each having a squib therein connected in parallel across the connecting wires is characterized by a zener diode connected in series with the second squib in the branch containing the same. The zener diode prevents the flow of current through the branch with the second squib until a firing signal of a predetermined polarity and a magnitude greater than the breakdown voltage of the zener diode is applied across the second branch. The zener diode responds to that firing signal by breaking down into a low resistance conduction path to thereby permit an electrical current sufficient to raise the second squib to incandescence to flow therethrough.

    摘要: A dispenser for storing and launching countermeasures from an aircraft, comprising an elongate body provided with at least one launch opening adapted for storing the countermeasures in cartridges, where the dispenser comprises a manoeuvrable spoiler arranged in front of the launch opening, where the spoiler is adapted to be fully retracted before a countermeasure has been launched, and that the spoiler is adapted to extend outwards in a predefined manner when a countermeasure has been launched. The advantage of the invention is that a spoiler will reduce induced noise from the open cartridges by extending a spoiler outwards depending on the number of launched countermeasures. This allows for a simple, reliable and cost-effective solution.
