摘要： Frangible firearm projectiles, firearm cartridges, and methods for forming the same. The projectiles are formed from metal powder and include an anti-sparking agent. One or more of iron, zinc, bismuth, tin, copper, nickel, tungsten, boron, and/or alloys thereof may form the metal powder. The projectiles may be formed from a compacted mixture of two or more different metal powders. The anti-sparking agent may include a borate, such as boric acid, zinc chloride, and/or petrolatum. The anti-sparking agent may be dispersed within, and/or applied as a coating on, the exterior of the projectile. The compacted mixture may be heat treated for a time sufficient to form a plurality of discrete alloy domains within the compacted mixture. Such domains may be formed by a mechanism that includes vapor-phase diffusion bonding and oxidation of the metal powders and that does form a liquid phase of the metal powder or utilize a polymeric binder.

摘要： Shotshell type ammunition includes a hull, a wad member disposed within the hull, a hollow nose member, and at least one projectile disposed within the hollow nose member and the hull. The hull has a rimless proximal end that includes a primer for firing the ammunition. The hull also has a seat surface for seating the hull against a complementary seat surface in a firing chamber of a firearm. The seat surface is located a distance from an outer end surface of the hull at the rimless proximal end. The hull further includes an outer side surface extending from the rimless proximal end to the seat surface. Methods of fabricating such ammunition include forming such a hull, providing a wad member within the hull, inserting at least one projectile into a hollow nose member, and inserting the hollow nose member at least partially into the hull.

摘要： A high-pressure fixed munition for a low-pressure launching system having a cylindrical body with a centrally located bore is provided. The bore of the munition has a reduced diameter on the charge end in which a primer charge is positioned. The bore is filled above the primer charge with a propellant and above the propellant with a payload. The payload may include multiple buckshot pellets, frangible buckshot pellets, tear gas, multiple slugs, frangible slugs, paint balls, rubber pellets, bean bags, or the like. The munition may also include a pressure disk between the propellant and the payload, and tactile ridges or on the outside surface of the munition body or be of a specific color for purposes of identification of the payload.

In some embodiments, the systems include a first part being non-spherical and having an exterior, a plurality of stabilizing fins secured with the exterior of at the first part, and a second part have a hollow portion containing an inhibiting substance, wherein the second part is sealed with the first part to seal the inhibiting substance within at least the hollow portion. The first part can similarly have a hollow portion such that a volume is defined by the hollow portion of the first part and the hollow portion of the second part, wherein the inhibiting substance is contained within the volume. The fins can be angled to provide spin stabilizing.

摘要： In an ammunition round a substantially full bore diameter bullet has a plurality of elongate grooves either helically formed or parallel with the longitudinal axis of the bullet and a sabot which has a body and fingers which engage with the grooves and seal the bullet in a casing, the sabot having a slightly larger diameter than the bullet so that the sabot is engraved by the rifling slots in the barrel through which the round is to be fired, in order to rotate the bullet. In alternative constructions the grooves contain elongate elements or a plurality of spherical elements to prevent the conically tapered slug or bullet from tilting or cocking in the barrel after firing.

摘要： Disclosed herein is a 12-gauge 00 buckshot shotshell having a definitely improved pattern accuracy because of the manner in which the pellets are stacked within the casing prior to firing. The 00 pellets are stacked within a relatively thick-walled casing, or within a relatively thick-walled sleeve within the casing, in single pairs superimposed one upon the other, each pair nesting with its adjacent pair in a common nesting zone and none of the centers of the pellets being disposed within such a nesting zone. The casing must have an effective internal diameter of less than 2.154 times the diameter of the 00 buckshot pellets. The pellets may be stacked so that the two pellets of most of the pairs are slightly axially off-set relative to each other, and so that each pellet is arranged along one of a pair of separate varying helical paths about the axis of the casing.

摘要： A projectile for hand and shoulder weapons has a cylindrical body and a nose, the longitudinal cross-section of the nose being defined by two concave lines which are symmetrical with respect to the axis of the projectile. An internal cavity formed within the projectile body and open at the end remote from the nose is at least partly filled with charge power which has been introduced into the cartridge case. The initial velocity thus imparted to the projectile is higher than that of a projectile of the conventional type and of the same caliber.

摘要： A spinning shot gun projectile comprises a cylindrical body having radially projecting vanes arranged with respect to the longitudinal axis of the body at an angle predetermined for air impingement during the flight of the projectile, thereby imparting a spinning motion to the same and insuring an accurate trajectory. The rearward portion of the projectile body has an axial bore dimensioned to receive in bearing engagement the ram portion of wad means located forwardly of the powder. The thrust of the explosion thus is transmitted to the projectile centrally and forwardly of the same by the action of the ram, thereby further insuring true flight of the projectile.
