Abstract: A switching device includes a first enclosure containing a switch, a rod-shaped second enclosure having a second end connected to the first enclosure, a detector unit in the second enclosure, and a float disposed around the second enclosure and capable of moving along it. As the float moves from the first end of the second enclosure toward the second end, when the float enters a first position range, a first position sensor senses the float and transmits a first sensing signal to a detection circuit; when the float enters a second position range, a second position sensor senses the float and transmits a second sensing signal to the detection circuit. The detection circuit close a switch in response to the second sensing signal to turn on an external appliance. The switching device is flexible, reliable, and inexpensive to produce.

Abstract: Estimating a fuel consumption includes receiving a request for estimating the fuel consumption between a first time and a second time; estimating a first fuel consumption value in a first time interval using fuel-sender resistance data; estimating a second fuel consumption value in a second time interval using fuel-injected mass data, where the first time interval and the second time interval are consecutive, non-overlapping intervals; and combining at least the first fuel consumption value and the second fuel consumption value to obtain a fuel consumption value.

Abstract: A system includes a fuel level sensing probe inside a fuel tank and an exciter wire bundle to connect the fuel level sensing probe to a power source outside the tank. The exciter wire bundle includes an excitation wire and a grounded guard wire. The excitation wire and the grounded guard wire each include a resistive non-metallic wire. The system also includes a return signal wire bundle to connect the fuel level sensing probe to a device configured to measure a quantity of fuel within the tank. The return signal wire bundle includes a return signal wire and a grounded guard wire. The grounded guard wire of the return signal wire bundle and the grounded guard wire of the exciter wire bundle are configured to shield the return signal wire from electromagnetic interference. The return signal wire and the grounded guard wire each include a resistive non-metallic wire.

Abstract: A liquid surface detecting device includes a movable body, a circuit board, segment electrodes, an output electrode, and a resistive element located across the segment electrodes and the output electrode to be electrically connected thereto. The segment electrodes are arranged on the mounting surface in an electrode region. The resistive element includes first and second resistive portions on both sides of the electrode region in the movement direction. The resistive element is electrically connected to the output electrode at each of the first and second resistive portions. The movement direction in which the movable body moves according to a decrease of the liquid surface level is defined as a reference direction. The second resistive portion located further in the reference direction than the first resistive portion is completely cut off to block a conduction between its output electrode side and electrode region side.

Abstract: A liquid level sensor includes a base member disposed above the liquid. A lever arm is pivotally attached to the base member. The lever arm is configured to interact with the liquid so that it has an angular displacement relative to the base member. The angular displacement is a function of the level of the liquid in the liquid channel. A sensor senses angular displacement of the lever arm. A communications circuit transmits the angular displacement of the lever arm to a remote location. In a method of detecting a liquid level, a float that is buoyant in the liquid is placed into the liquid and is coupled to a lever arm. An angular displacement of the lever arm relative to a base member is measured. The liquid level is a function of the angular displacement of the lever arm.

Abstract: A liquid level detection device is disposed in a container having a viscous liquid. The liquid level detection device includes an installing seat, a connecting rod, a pivoting structure connecting the installing seat and one end of the connecting rod, and a floating element disposed at one end of the connecting rod opposite to the installing seat. Further, the liquid level detection device includes a protecting bladder disposed to correspond to the pivoting structure. The protecting bladder divides the liquid level detection device into a coated part and an exposed part. One end of the floating element opposite to the installing seat is the exposed part. The protecting bladder isolates the viscous liquid from contacting with the pivoting structure to prevent excessive viscous liquid from remaining on the pivoting structure and avoid the problem of misoperation of the liquid level detection device caused by the influence of the protecting bladder.

Abstract: A paper shredder bin-full sensor with a push bar, a conductive element coupled to the push bar, a sensing contact assembly normally set apart from the conductive element, and a signaling contact coupled to the sensing contact assembly. Sensor includes a push bar sweeper between the conductive element and the push bar, and a biasing element coupled to the push bar sweeper, the biasing element elastically resists the shredded material force. A predetermined shredded material force presses the push bar, causing the conductive element to couple to the sensing contact assembly, in turn causing a waste bin-full signal to emanate. Push bar can be articulated and non-articulated. Articulated push bars include upper and lower push bars, and respective tensioning element connecting the respective upper and lower push bars. Lower push bar is extended from upper push bar. Paper shredder can have articulated or non-articulated push bars.
