    摘要: A knock sensor comprises a sensor body having a metallic shell including a cylindrical portion and a flange portion formed at an end of the cylindrical portion, an annular piezoelectric element fitted around the cylindrical portion and an annular weighting member fitted around the cylindrical portion to hold the piezoelectric element between the weighting member and the flange portion, and a resin-molded sensor casing arranged circumferentially around the sensor body. The resin-molded sensor casing includes a weighting portion located nearer to the weighting member than to the piezoelectric element with respect to an axial direction of the cylindrical portion, and at least the weighting portion of the resin-molded sensor casing is made of a resin containing at least one of metal powder and metal oxide powder and has a density of 2.0 g/cm3 or higher.

    摘要: A thick film resistor strain gauge is applied to a stainless steel shell portion of a spark plug. There are two preferable ways of applying a thick film resistor to the metal shell. In a first embodiment, the thick film resistor may be directly printed on to the shell portion with special screen printing equipment. In a second embodiment, the thick film resistor is printed and applied as a decal to the shell portion. The thick film resistors may be included in a quarter, a half, or a full wheatstone bridge strain gauge circuit. One of two embodiments of an automatic drift compensating circuit is used to determine the change in resistance experienced by the thick film resistors affixed to the spark plug. Either one of the automatic drift compensation circuits output a voltage signal which is proportional to the pressure changes occurring inside the engine cylinder into which the spark plug is threaded.

    摘要: A method and an apparatus for detecting knocking combustion in an internal combustion engine, by evaluating the ionic current signal sensed in the combustion chamber, is especially adapted to correct or compensate the ionic current signal for longterm variations arising therein, for example due to variations in the composition of the fuel as a result of contamination with metallic components or the like. Thereby, erroneous knock recognition is prevented. To achieve this, a frequency-filtered time-sampled knocking component integral of the ionic current signal generated in the present combustion cycle is multiplied by a correction value determined from at least one integral value of the ionic current signal generated during at least one prior combustion cycle. The correction value is preferably a time-weighted combination of plural difference values that are respectively determined by subtracting an average integrated value of the ionic current signal from the knocking component integral of the ionic current signal in plural prior combustion cycles, and that are stored in successive positions of a shift register. If the final corrected knocking component integral falls outside of an allowable range, a knock recognition signal is released.

    摘要: An ignition coil, spark plug, and pressure sensor for an internal combustion engine are, in a preferred embodiment, integrated into a single assembly and mounted directly on a plug hole of an internal combustion engine. A hard spark plug shell serves as a pressure member and on which a strain gage is affixed. Changes in the pressure in the combustion chamber deform the shell, causing a corresponding change in the resistance of the strain gage. A bridge circuit or the like is used to measure the resistance change thereby providing a direct indication of cylinder pressure.

    摘要: A vibration sensor having a pressure sleeve in which the pressure sleeve may be mounted under pressure on a component causing vibration. To detect a vibration signal, e.g., in the case of a knock sensor, a sensory system is held by a seismic mass above it on the outside of the pressure sleeve via a screw connection on a contact face of the pressure sleeve under an axial prestress in the direction of the sensory system. The seismic mass has an inside thread and may be screwed onto the sensory system to produce the axial prestress in the direction of the sensory system. A seismic mass or the sensory system has at least two opposing grooves running radially opposite one another, so that the plastic may enter an interior space between the sensory system and the pressure sleeve during extrusion through these grooves.
