摘要: A system for servicing a racing car or other car at a track, other race course, or similar destination employs an open platform for supporting the car by its tires in a horizontal position. The platform supports the car, and is itself supported by a crawler, in a carrier vehicle, for example a truck or trailer, when the carrier vehicle is transporting the car. The crawler and platform are also used to unload and load the car from and into the carrier vehicle. To unload the car at the destination, the crawler, with the platform and car on it, is driven out of the carrier vehicle and onto the ground. Next, the platform is elevated by extending its legs so that it rises off, is spaced from, and straddles the crawler. Then the crawler is driven out from under the platform. Then the platform is lowered to the ground, where it is used as a lift to elevate the car so that its undercarriage may be accessed. The platform may also be used to tune the chassis of the car. The chassis tuning may include manipulating the chassis to a static position which emulates an instantaneous position of the car on the race course. The carrier, platform, and car may be loaded back into the carrier vehicle by the reverse procedure.

摘要: A loading assembly used in a vehicle spindle test fixture includes a wheel adapter housing that is mountable to a vehicle spindle. A pair of vertical struts are provided. Each vertical strut is joined to the wheel adapter housing at spaced-apart first pivot connections. A bell crank is coupled to each end of the vertical struts at spaced-apart second pivot connections. An actuator is pivotally coupled to the bell crank at a third pivot connection. The location of the second pivot connections relative to the third pivot connection approximates the location of the first pivot connections relative to the spindle axis.

摘要: An efficient and effective computerized apparatus and method for determining the effects of railroad car humping on cargo in railroad cars. The invention broadly comprises a twelve-wheel test cart mounted on a pair of rails for simulating a rail car; an impact structure for simulating rail cars during humping; an electric motor drive unit for accelerating and propelling the test cart toward the impact structure, a series of hydraulic accumulator springs and valves for decelerating the test cart during the humping of the test cart with the impact structure, and a programmed computer for controlling test variables. The test apparatus allows the levels of severity to be readily changed and the test cart to be positively coupled to the impact structure or to rebound from the impact structure.

摘要: In known devices for testing vehicle shock absorbers, the tires, which have a dampening effect, are not taken into account, so that the measurement results may be falsified by up to about 30%, depending on the tire pressure. In addition, when the wheels are mounted on the vehicle, no shock absorber characteristic curve may be measured, only individual values. In the disclosed device, the actuating variable “tire” is eliminated by a regulation process that consists in normalizing the resonance amplitude, a considerably more accurate measurement being thus obtained. In addition, the spring constant of the wheel suspension is determined before actually testing the shock absorbers, allowing defective springs to be detected. Finally, car body oscillations may also be determined, causing an additional precision gain. For the first time it becomes possible to determine a shock absorber characteristic curve without having to dismount the shock absorbers.

摘要: An antilock braking system employing stress sensors installed in the wheel axle structure of a motor vehicle. The stress sensors measure a road surface frictional force and a braking torque. A parameter M is calculated from these measured values. An ABS control terminates a braking pressure reduction process in accordance with the change in the parameter M. Thereby, the system can preclude the locking of the wheel of the motor vehicle even when the brake is suddenly applied, can prevent the braking pressure reduction from being over controlled, and makes possible to minimize the braking loss.
