The control device comprises a pulse wheel device including: a magnetized member (10) fixable to a rotatable member (R) and comprising zones magnetized with opposite polarities (N, S) in predetermined angular zones, and an associated transducer (T) for generating an analog signal that varies as the angular position of the rotatable magnetized member (10) varies. The zones magnetized with opposite polarities (N, S) are arranged in such manner that at every revolution of the rotatable member a magnetic flux linked with the transducer (T) varies responsive to the angular position of the rotatable member, in a manner corresponding to the pattern of the function (f) in a period. Thereby the electric signal provided by the transducer (T) can be directly used for driving the controlled device (D).

A wheel-speed sensor for generating signals representative of the wheel-speed of an individual wheel on a vehicle. Unlike known wheel-speed sensors, the wheel-speed sensor in accordance with the present invention is readily serviceable without disassembly of major components of the wheel assemblies and is relatively simple, and thus less expensive to manufacture, than known wheel-speed sensors. Two embodiments of the wheel-speed sensor in accordance with the present invention are disclosed. One embodiment relates to a nullbetween-the-rowsnull wheel-speed sensor which includes a magnetic exciter ring that is adapted to be affixed to a rotating axle between rolling element rows of a wheel bearing. In an alternate embodiment of the invention, the wheel-speed sensor is configured to form a grease seal which typically inserts into the end of an axle tube. A wheel-speed sensor utilizes a multiple pole magnetic exciter ring that is adapted to be attached to a rotating axle shaft. The wheel-speed sensor includes a two-piece stator which also functions as a grease seal which concentrates flux from a rotating multiple pole exciter ring. A coil of magnet wire or, alternatively, an active Hall effect device is used as the sensor and connects the two stator pieces, forming a flux bridge.

A method and apparatus for sensing the speed and direction of a rotating target is disclosed. A first differential Hall package can be generally located opposite to a second differential Hall package, wherein the first differential Hall package and second differential Hall package comprise mirror images of one another. A first output signal can then be generated by the first differential Hall package and a second output signal by the second differential Hall package during a rotation of the rotating target. The first Hall output signal can thus be compared to the second Hall output signal during a shift of the rotating target from a sinusoidal phase to a non-sinusoidal phase thereof, thereby permitting accurate phase information indicative of the speed and direction of the rotating target to be obtained.

In an aspect, the invention maintains a signal when the reference frequency and the variable frequency transition. In another aspect, the invention provides additional timing balance to prevent early generation of the logic pulses. In another aspect, the logic pulses drive a charge pump used in one of a phase-locked loop and a delay-locked loop.

A method and system for improving the duty cycle output of a vehicle speed sensor circuit is disclosed. The vehicle speed sensor circuit can be configured, for example as a binary counter, to provide a particular number of pulses per distance of vehicle travel. An output of the vehicle speed sensor circuit is generally divided by placing varying values on particular load pins of an associated counter circuit, thereby providing a substantially improved duty cycle output from the vehicle speed sensor circuit, which is independent of an associated sensor duty cycle. The output of the vehicle speed sensor circuit can be divided utilizing a toggle flip-flop circuit integrated with the vehicle speed sensor circuit. The toggle flip-flop can be configured as an edge-triggered toggle flip-flop. The vehicle speed sensor can be utilized to sense rotating members present in a vehicle. The vehicle speed sensor thus provides a digital pulse output for every tooth that passes in front of the vehicle speed sensor.

In one aspect of the invention, the sensor assembly further includes a capacitor electrically and mechanically coupled to the sensor terminal and the connector terminal via the splice band. The sensor element is preferably an active sensor such as a magneto-resistive sensor or a Hall-Effect sensor.

A system for controlling the rotational speed of a fan, according to a reference clock having a reference frequency, is disclosed. The rotational speed corresponds to a fan rotational speed signal. The fan rotational speed controlling unit compares the reference clock with the fan rotational speed signal, to output a speed controlling signal. The voltage generating circuit generates a level signal corresponding to the speed controlling signal. The driving unit generates a driving signal to control the rotational speed of the fan according to the level signal. When the fan is assembled with the controlling system, only coils with the same turns need to be use to obtain various rated rotational speeds of fans of different specifications by altering the reference frequency of the controlling system. Because coils with different turns are not required in stock at the same time, the time cost and the manufacturing cost can be reduced.

Disclosed is a wheel speed sensor for a vehicle which has a function of detecting revolution of the wheel in order to provide a uniform braking power when a vehicle brakes. The wheel speed sensor is installed at a position adjacent to a sensor rotor of a hub in the vehicle. Guiding bosses protrude from an outer periphery surface of the bobbin in the radial direction. An injected and molded housing encloses the bobbin and the first lead frame, the second lead frame and the third frame. The rubber ring is fitted into the inserting groove to cause close contact with the inner side of the housing. From this structure, the wheel speed sensor can prevent a coil open circuit and has an enhanced durability.
