    摘要: A Ferraris sensor for measuring an acceleration of a moving body along a direction. The sensor includes a flat eddy current body and a scanning head arranged on one side of the eddy current body. The scanning head includes N magnets that generate an external magnetic field that extends approximately perpendicular to a surface of the eddy current body, wherein Nnull1, 2, 3, . . . and M detector coils, wherein Mnull1, 2, 3, 4, . . . and each detector coil includes an axis and detects changes of an interior magnetic field within the N magnets that are caused by an acceleration of the eddy current body and a resulting change in eddy currents. The axis is approximately perpendicular with respect to the surface of the eddy current body, each detector coil lacks a ferromagnetic core and the N magnets and the M detector coils are arranged alternatingly next to each other in a direction that the acceleration is to be measured.

    摘要: A permanent magnet rotary accelerometer comprising: a cylindrical magnetic return path formed out of magnetic permeable material; an electrically conductive cup with an axis for rotation there around, the cup surrounding the magnetic return path; one or more sets of permanent magnets having opposite magnetic polarity, surrounding the cup, for a producing magnetic field through the cup into the magnetic return path, thereby inducing eddy currents inside the cup when rotating in the magnetic field; a stator core formed out of magnetic permeable material surrounding the cup and nonrotatable relative thereto, the stator core comprising at least two pick up members and a stator core return path therein, wherein the pick up members and the stator core return path are formed from at least one continuous piece of magnetic permeable material; and one or more pickup coils disposed on the pickup members of the stator core for sensing changes in a secondary magnetic filed generated by the eddy currents in the cup.

    摘要: The present invention is a seismometer/velocimeter, and can be also made to function as an accelerometer. The invention comprises an in-plane suspension geometry combined with a transverse periodic-sensing-array position transducer. The invention can incorporate a feedback actuator of magnetic design, incorporating fixed magnets and planar coils on the surface of the proof mass allowing for much lower noise than an equivalent electrostatic actuator without requiring high voltages. The invention may also have a dual-axis configuration by using two sets of springs. The nested suspensions allow the proof mass to move in two orthogonal directions. A three-axis configuration is possible by combining the dual-axis version with sensing and actuation of the proof mass motion out of the plane. The position sensing for the out-of-plane motion can be made using schemes common in existing state-of-the-art sensors. Actuation for the sensors may be electrostatic or electromagnetic in each of the axis.
