摘要: A method of monitoring radon in an area, comprising: acquiring a series of radon measurements for the area; obtaining a characteristic value relating to ventilation in the area; and calculating a weighted average from the series of radon measurements. Using a characteristic of the ventilation to calculate the weights allows some knowledge of the ventilation rate to be used in the averaging process so as to improve the quality of the averaged data. With a high ventilation rate, the radon level drops rapidly, with the removal of radon by ventilation dominating any radon source, and so an average can be more strongly weighted towards the current value. With a low ventilation rate, the removal of radon slows and so the noise in the data is taken into account. Combining the actual radon measurements with knowledge of the ventilation rate allows the averaging function to provide better time resolution.

摘要: An apparatus for measuring radon and thoron using an ionization chamber is proposed. The apparatus includes: a pump for air inflow suctioning and sending external air to at least one channel; a first sensor module outputting an alpha particle detection signal of an electrical signal by detecting alpha (α) particles discharged from radon and thoron; an air inflow delay module delaying air for a predetermined delay time and then outputting the air; a second sensor module outputting an alpha particle detection signal of an electrical signal by detecting alpha (α) particles discharged from radon and thoron; and a control module discriminating normal or abnormal alpha particle detection signals, counting the normal alpha particle detection signals discriminated for a predetermined measurement time, and calculating radioactive ray concentration values on the basis of the counted number of times of the normal alpha particle detection signals.

摘要: A method of detecting radon may include starting a first timer at a radon detection device in response to a first triggering action. A seal of the radon detection device may transition to a seal position from an open position in response to the first timer being equal to a measurement interval. The open position may facilitate the introduction of ambient air to a vent of the radon detection device. The seal position may discourage introduction of the ambient air to the vent. The vent may be in fluid communication with a test material. The test material may collect radon from the ambient air introduced to the radon detection device. A second timer may be started in response to the seal transitioning from the open position to the seal position. The seal remains in the sealed position following the transition from the open position to the sealed position.

摘要: A billing system based on radon concentration pattern analysis and a method therefor is provided, the system including a radon detection device counting the output alpha particle detection signals for a predetermined measurement time to calculate a radon concentration value; and a cloud server storing generating a radon concentration pattern corresponding to the radon detection device by using a radon concentration value received from the radon detection device and calculating a cost for radon monitoring service provided to a terminal of the user, wherein the cloud server analyzes the generated radon concentration pattern and determines the periodic behavior pattern of the user for a predetermined period of time, whereby it is possible to charge a radon monitoring service fee for each user using the radon monitoring service, and the user may be motivated to frequently perform the ventilation action that reduces the radon concentration.

摘要: An apparatus for use in making localized passive measurements of electromagnetic radiation emitted from an object located in a radioactive environment includes a hollow elongate conduit having a first end, a second end, and a reflective inner surface. The first end of the conduit is positionable in the radioactive environment proximate the object, and the second end of the conduit is positionable outside the radioactive environment. The conduit has at least one bend between the first end and the second end, such that light entering the first end of the conduit is reflected by the inner surface of the conduit at least once as it travels through the conduit before reaching the second end. A detector in optical communication with the second end of the conduit is configured to detect electromagnetic radiation that reaches the second end.
