    摘要: The multimedia and scent storage medium described herein comprises a multimedia storage region for storing multimedia information; a scent storage region for storing multiple scents; scent identification information for identifying which scents are stored in the scent storage region; and scent recovery information stored in the multimedia storage region for sequencing recovery of scents stored in the scent storage region to coincide with audio and/or video information stored in the multimedia region. The integrated system described herein comprises a multimedia and scent storage medium and a multimedia player and scent recovery system for use in conjunction with the multimedia and scent-bearing medium. The multimedia and scent recovery system comprises a multimedia playback system for recovering the multimedia information stored in the multimedia storage regions of the multimedia and scent storage medium; a scent recovery system for recovering scents stored in the scent storage region of the multimedia and scent storage medium; and user input and control means for permitting the user of the integrated system to input commands for controlling the playback of multimedia information and recovery of scents stored in the multimedia and scent-bearing medium.

    摘要: In a motion picture subtitle system a shutter such as a mechanical dowser, LCLV, or E/O diffuser is inserted in the optical path between the supplemental projector and the motion picture screen and synchronized to the projection of the subtitles to reduce visual artifacts and enhance the cinematic presentation. A controller is arranged to receive the subtitles from a storage medium, to provide the subtitles to the supplemental projector in synchronism with the projection of the motion picture, and to alternately cause the shutter to pass the modulated light beam during an “on” state in synchronism with the motion picture so the subtitles are superimposed at desired times on desired portions of the motion picture and cause the shutter to attenuate the light beam during an “off” state.

A light system is provided in which colors of the light projected through a film toward a viewing screen can be individually and incrementally adjusted as desired for use by a color “Timer” who is an individual that selects color corrections on a scene-by-scene basis until a suitable look is achieved. The Timer does this in real time while watching the film scene projected on the screen. The color adjustments are stored and subsequently used to control a motion picture film printer in printing a next version of scenes of the film.

    摘要: This invention relates generally to a movie anti-piracy system with sensing and reporting features. A movie projector projects a light image to reflect off of a screen, while an infrared energy projection source generates an infrared energy pattern which is reflected off the screen (or otherwise projected) in the same field of view as the light images reflecting from the screen. Infrared energy sensors are positioned in the seating area of the theater. The infrared sensors provide sensed signals respectively to a sensor response controller. The controller is responsive to the sensor signals to provide an infrared status (and other data) signal output to a control center. The control center responds to the infrared status and other data signals, from one or a plurality of theaters, and provides for reporting of information (such as security compliance, attendance, etc.) to one or multiple reporting sites (such as movie distribution studios, etc.).

The system also includes a scent delivery unit having a plurality of compartments to contain the scent cartridges, a device that generates an airflow, and a mechanism that moves the scent cartridges from the compartments into the airflow to create a scented airflow. The scent delivery unit also includes a controller that controls the mechanism to move different scent cartridges at different times during the presentation in order to release different scents in response to cues from the presentation. The olfactory special effects system also includes a scent outlet vent to deliver the scented airflow to the audience members. The system further includes a scent ductwork to channel the scented airflow from the scent delivery unit to the scent outlet vent.

    摘要: A portable device is disclosed which can deliver various combinations of scents in rapid succession directly to a user's nose. The device uses a blower fan (2) which forces air through a fragrance chamber (4). The flow into the chamber is regulated by an inlet valve (5) and an outlet valve (6). The valves (5,6) can be manually, electrically or pneumatically actuated. The valves (5,6) can be of an on/off or proportional flow type. The air carries away the scent molecules which have entered the gas phase. This air is then mixed with the air from all other fragrance holders in the packed bed mixer (11). The final mixture is delivered to the user via nasal tubing (20) and is emitted right below the wearer's nose. A mask covering the nose can be used to deliver the scent to the user. The scent is then drawn away from the nose and into a scent scrubber (38).
