    摘要: A clock device for timekeeping with an analog display and a time correction unit. The time correction unit uses encoder disks and rotary encoders to convert the angular position of the minute hand and the hour hand to a slave time code. The slave time code is compared to a master time code. A feedback circuit drives the minute hand and hour hand drive-motor(s) until the slave time code equals the master time code. The master time code can be generated from a digital clockworks, or it can be transmitted to the present invention from another clock. The invention can be extended to include a second hand and a time correction unit for a second hand.

    摘要: A method and provides for transmitting a time reference throughout a residence or other facility for use by appliances operating within the facility. A time reference is received from the headend of a cable television (CATV) system at the subscriber converter and is retransmitted to set the internal clock timers of residential appliances throughout the house. The time reference is received by the CATV converter, then encoded and modulated for transmission on the residential AC wiring system which also carries AC power to all of the appliances in the house. Individual appliances receive the encoded time reference from the AC power line, demodulate the received signal and use the received time reference to set its internal clock timer. In such manner, a residential appliance does not need to have its internal clock set by the consumer.

    摘要: A time display system has a decoder (22) to decode a received time signal indicative of the time at that instant, and controls a time display device (8) to display the time indicated by the time signal. The system also includes means (20) to generate a position signal indicative of the actual time displayed by the display device (8).     摘要: Time indicating signals are transmitted from a master clock at a central station to a slave clock at a peripheral station via a two-wire line as binary values represented by pulsed duration modulated signals. Clock, coding and transmitting circuitry at the central station are normally energized by an a.c. power line source. In the event of failure of the a.c. power source, the clock is energized by a battery and transmission from the central station to the remote station ceases. On resumption of power, the first transmission from the central station to the peripheral station enables the slave clock to provide a correct time indication. Transmission can be over any existing lines interconnecting the central and peripheral stations, such as a 60-cycle power line, television cable, or a telephone link. If television cable or 60-cycle line is employed, the presence and absence of voltage is indicated by frequency shift keying transmission. Transmission of the time indication requires only a fraction of the total transmission time, and is constant for all time indications, whereby other data signals can be transmitted between the central and peripheral stations.

    摘要: A clock mechanism driven by a pulsed stepper motor and having planetary reduction gearing which provides a continuous but resilient connection between the motor and the minute hand of the clock at all times. The motor includes a permanent magnet rotor in direct driving relationship with the minute hand, and the rotor poles serve as a magnetic detent to hold the minute hand in discrete angular positions. The mechanism may be employed either in individual clocks or in the secondary clocks of a mastersecondary clock system. In these latter embodiments the secondary clocks additionally include a pair of switches respectively controlled by the minute hand gearing and the hour hand gearing. The switches greatly facilitate the automatic resetting of the clocks in response to appropriate resetting signals from the master unit.

    摘要: Satellites of the Navy Navigation Satellite System continuously transmit a carrier frequency which is phase modulated with a precisely timed, recurrent phase modulation pattern synchronized to Naval Observatory time. The recurrent phase modulation pattern is a continuous stream of binary bits and comprises a message portion which occurs at a predetermined bit rate and a marker word which occurs at a fixed position in each recurrent modulation pattern and is composed of a signal having a frequency which is a known multiple of the message portion bit rate. Accurate time recovery of the satellite-transmitted signal is accomplished by multiplication of the message portion bit rate to the frequency of the time marker word or signal and subsequently phase comparing the bit rate-derived signal with the incoming satellite signal and producing a pulse when phase coincidence occurs which, in turn, allows examination of a particular multiplied message cycle segment. When this segment is detected a fiducial time mark pulse is produced.
