摘要: Various signals are exchanged between a coin acceptor section that identifies the authenticity of deposited coins and sorts out the on the basis of their denominations, and a change control section that receives the sorted-out coins and performs control to count the coins and to deliver the coins as a change. Such a signal exchange between the two sections is achieved through optical coupling between a light emitting diode and a photo transistor, without employing any electric contacts. Further, electric power supply from the change control section to the coin acceptor section is done through spring-biased probes without employing any electric connectors, or through inductive coupling without employing any electric contacts. Such arrangements can greatly facilitate attachment and detachment of the coin acceptor section to and from the change control section.

摘要: A coin acceptor apparatus has circuitry for energizing a first coil so as to induce a signal in a second coil while a coin to be tested is passed between the coils. Circuitry is further provided for cancelling the signal induced in the second coil when a genuine coin passes between the coils, so that the resultant signal is reduced below a predetermined level. Also, the apparatus accepts the coin when the resultant signal is below the predetermined level, and rejects it when the signal is above the predetermined level.

摘要: An anti-vandalizing device prevents removal of the coin-return bucket through the coin-retrieval window of the lower-housing cover of a coin-operated telephone while still accommodating coin vault security involving use of one key by the coin collector and of a differently coded key for the upper housing by the maintenance person responsible for fixing the bucket in the lower housing. A guard ring mounted inside an aligned window of a guard wrap reduces the effective size of the guard wrap window to where the bucket cannot be retrieved therethrough even after being crushed against the anti-rocking screw while still accommodating user coin retrieval of his unused deposited coins. The guard ring is slidably mounted on the back side of the guard wrap so as to be retrievable from above in the space between the lower housing cover and the guard wrap when the upper housing is removed. In one embodiment a ridge about the perimeter of an installed guard ring window seats within the guard wrap window. Deep slide brackets enable pivotal movement of the upper end of the guard ring to enable its ridge to clear the wrap about its window. A spacer plate behind the guard ring is inserted within the deep slide brackets to hold the guard ring with its ridge seated in the wrap window. In a second embodiment, brackets depending from the inside surface of the guard ring hold the ring in the guard wrap window along with a headed stud on the inside surface of the wrap seating a locking plate having slots receiving headed studs on the upper end of the guard ring.

摘要: A coin testing apparatus comprises transmitting and receiving coils on opposite sides of a coin passageway. The transmitting coil is connected to high and low frequency oscillators. In the high frequency channel the signal is amplitude controlled by a voltage controlled amplifier rectified by a rectifier and smoothed by a long time-constant circuit. The initial rise in level caused by a coin entering between the coils is detected by an instantaneous level change comparator which responds to the rate of change of signal level at the output of the long time-constant circuit becoming equal to a preset threshold and causes a normally closed switch to be opened. When the switch is closed a comparator compares the signal with a reference value from a source and adjusts the gain of the amplifier until the signal corresponds to the reference value. Upon the arrival of the coin the switch is opened and a long time-constant circuit causes the gain of the amplifier to be maintained at the level before the arrival of the coin. A window comparator compares the difference in voltage with voltage ranges for acceptable coins. A similar arrangement is provided in the low frequency channel but with two differences. The switch in the low frequency channel is operated by the same instantaneous level comparator as is used for the high frequency channel and instead of a rectifier a novel sample and hold technique is used for providing a d.c. signal from the output of the amplifier.
