The sound reducing or muffling device can be left on the appliance even when not in use, providing a decoration to the kitchen in a style appropriate to it's surroundings. Using the muffling device, a person can enjoy fresh-ground coffee at anytime with the assurance that the sound from the coffee grinder is well insulated. The device is particularly easy to deploy and use, requires no moving parts, and is flexible enough to work with the majority of coffee grinder products currently on the market. Other embodiments can be used with other forms of kitchen appliances.

    摘要: The creation of sounds by musical instruments or sound reproduction systems is not perfect, but acoustic dissonances inherent in the production of sound generators can be corrected. The present method uses open volumes, such as a glass, possibly provided with a cutoff, a fragmentation creating at least one opening. This object placed close to or on a sound generator frees additional sound waves to harmonise with the sound generator by means of mechanical coupling or an air sound link due to the volume of the resonator and its fragmentation. A device made of a material with a Shore hardness of more than 60 makes it possible via its foot fixed to a piano to transmit mechanical sound vibrations. Method and device constitute an effective improvement in the reproduction and creation of sounds.

    摘要: A broadband noise barrier includes Helmholtz-type resonator cavities. The barrier has a core section made up of one or more layers of cellular cavities of varying sizes sandwiched between a substantially planar face section placed toward a noise source, and an impermeable, substantially planar base section placed away from the noise source. The face section has apertures of specified sizes to permit disturbed air from the noise source to interact with the cavities in the core section. The variable cavity sizes permit resonant interactions with selected frequencies commonly associated with traffic noise, thus providing broadband acoustic absorption. Since the performance of the system derives from the resonator configuration rather than the constitutive properties of the materials used, the structure requires neither special materials, unconventional manufacturing processes, nor thick, heavy panel structures. The barrier may include additional layers of porous, sound-absorbing material to provide additional acoustic performance, and, in the case of a multiple-layer core section, have cavity walls between the various layers misaligned to minimize secondary modes of acoustic transmission. In addition, a cap-like edge section tailored to reduce the noise associated with diffracted sound waves can be added to a top or side edge of the barrier.

The above-described frequency-regulating portion is a gas mixer which is connected to the upstream side of the sonic wave oscillator and is provided with two or more gas conducting flow channels for conducting a compressive gas whose temperatures and/or densities are different from each other, or a slide mechanism that varies the length of the above-described resonance tube. Since the sonic soot blower is able to oscillate sonic waves while regulating the oscillation frequency so as to be suited to the operating conditions of the boiler, it becomes possible to effectively remove ash from the heat transmission tubes and to effectively prevent the same from adhering thereto over a wide range of operating conditions of soot blower-installed equipment (such as a boiler).

The throat 2 comprises: a circular throat entrance 2i connectable to the source driver unit 7; a rectangular throat exit 2e connectable to or integral with the feeder section 3; and a circular cross-section to rectangular cross-section transition portion 2a extending between the throat entrance 2i and the throat exit 2e. The throat 2 is shaped such that its profiles initially diverge from an axis longitudinal to the throat 14 at the same angle in a direction from the throat entrance 2i towards the throat exit 2e. Such a throat, when fitted in an appropriate acoustic horn with a source driver unit having a taper matching the aforesaid profile angles, provides a smooth transition for sound waves propagating out from the source driver unit into the horn.
