Abstract:
A device for coding a cable bunch having a plurality of conductors of mutually different colors or color combinations. A first electrical connector (6) is provided on one end of the cable bunch and a second electrical connector (7) is connected to the device (8) to which the cable bunch (10) is to be connected, wherein the electrical connectors have a number of connector pins to which the conductors are connected individually. The electrical connectors when connected together are intended to transmit current or a signal from each of the conductors in the cable bunch to a predetermined connector pin in the second electrical connector. There is provided along the cable bunch (10) a locking device (11) which includes a code unit (12) which is constructed to break and connect one or more conductors incoming from the cable bunch (10) to the code unit (12) to the same number of conductors outgoing from the code unit. When connecting the conductors, incoming conductors (1-5) of different respective colors or color combinations are connected to outgoing conductors (1-5) of other respective colors or color combinations, thereby to obtain a predetermined mixture of colors or color combinations of the conductors (1-5) in the cable bunch (10) upstream and downstream of the code unit (12). The incoming conductors (1-5) are connected in the first electrical connector (6) to the predetermined correct connector pins with regard to the desired transmission of current or signals to the device (8). The code unit (12) is controlled by an electronic lock (13) which is constructed to cause the code unit (12) to effect the conductor connections when the user opens the electronic lock.
Abstract:
A rotatable cylinder having a plurality of drivers mounted therein for axial movement with each driver having a projection thereon extending through openings in the cylinder to engage rotatably mounted rings coaxially positioned around the cylinder and a disk having a depression therein for receiving one of said drivers at a time as the disk and cylinder are rotated. When the disk and cylinder are rotated in one direction a driver positioned in the depression engages an associated ring to rotate the ring. As the disk and cylinder are rotated in an opposite direction the first driver is cammed from the depression and a second driver drops into place. The rings engage different conductors as they rotate to provide the encoding.
Abstract:
As a requirement for the opening of a lock or similar security device, an operative group of partially series-interconnected switches is required to be completely series-interconnected, i.e. placed in a closed circuit relation. However, in contrast to a typical prior art electric lock, in which the few switches which operate the lock are grouped, in order to obviate unauthorized detection, with "decoy" switches, the within invention uses all switches in the lock-opening circuit, in that some switches are required to be actuated and the remainder not actuated, or otherwise the circuit cannot be completed. Thus, the security of the lock is significantly improved since unauthorized opening thereof requires not just determining the proper switches to actuate, but also the proper switches which should not be actuated.
Abstract:
A multi-contact data module for a connection matrix having an input channel and a plurality of output channels, said data module comprising at least one switching body means defining a hollow internal cavity, contact pins for establishing electrical connections to the input channel and the plurality of output channels of the connection matrix, said contact pins extending into said hollow internal cavity of said switching body means. Movable contact means are disposed within said hollow internal cavity of said switching body means for cooperation with the contact pins, said movable contact means, when actuated, effecting electrical connections with said contact pins. A single actuator means is provided for each switching body means which is common to all the movable contact means thereof intended to be actuated, such single actuator means comprising a separate plug member means totally separatable from, but removably insertable into, said hollow internal cavity of said switching body means, said plug member means including actuating means for selective ones of said movable contact means. This separate, removably insertable plug member means, when inserted into said hollow internal cavity of said switching body means, serving to deflect selective ones of said contact means against the associated contact pins, whereby a given data distribution mode is effected. There is also provided programing template means having a respective cut-out for each plug member means substantially conforming to the cross-sectional shape of said actuating means on each of said plug members means, whereby said programing template means provides storage of a plurality of data distribution modes.
Abstract:
An electrical key for vehicular ignition systems having ignition system adapters that are irremovably interposed between a predetermined number of spark plug cable receptacles and their distributor contacts. The adapters being of two types, a normally open contact type that is activated by the electrical key and a normally closed contact type not affected by the electrical key. The electrical key including an electrical coded key element working in conjunction with an electrical coded key adapter, when the key element is inserted therein, to produce an electrical continuity in the vehicular ignition system. The key adapter also having wound-up means which will reject the key element when the key is in the ''''off'''' position while when rotated in the ''''on'''' position will be held in place to cause current to flow through the coded electrical circuitries to the spring loaded solenoid of the system adapters in starting the vehicular engine.
Abstract:
A signal actuator module having a set of spring loaded levers which can be in one of at least two operating positions is disclosed. The various positions of the levers in the set represents a code. The module is for mounting on other equipment such as a signal transmitter which contains cooperating switches. The switches are operated by magnetic or mechanical means attached to the levers and movable therewith. The module is completely enclosed by a cover which when opened permits all of the levers to return to the same position thereby preventing discovery of the code.
Abstract:
AN ELECTROMECHANICAL COMBINATION LOCK CONSTRUCTION FORMED OF A PLURALITY OF DIAL ASSEMBLIES HAVING AN EXTERIOR, MANUALLY ROTATABLE DIAL AND A SHAFT FIXED THERETO CARRYING A FIRST WHEEL OF INSULATING MATERIAL WHICH HAS A RADIAL ELECTRICAL CONTACT FORMATION AT A PARTICULAR ANGULAR POSITION THEREON, AND ANOTEHR WHEEL MEMBER OF INSULATING MATERIAL WHICH IS MOVABLE BETWEEN FORWARD AND REARWARD POSITIONS AXIALLY OF THE SHAFT AND CARRIES A SPRING CONTACT MEMBER TO ENGAGE THE CONFORNTING FACE OF THE FIRST MEMTIONED WHEEL AND CLOSE AN ELECTRICAL CIRCUIT WITH THE CONTACT FORMATION ON THE FIRST MENTIONED WHEEL AT A PARTICULAR ANGULAR POSITION OF THE DIAL. AN EXPOSED LEVER, AND A CAM OPERATED THEREBY, CONTROL CERTAIN LIMIT SWITCHES AND ACTIVATE A DEVICE TO MECHANICALLY COUPLE THE REAR WHEELS WITH THE FRONT WHEELS FOR COORDINATE ROTATION WHEN THE LOCK IS IN UNLOCKED CONDITION AND TO SHIFT THE REAR WHEELS TO A DECOUPLED RELATION TO THE FRONT WHEELS WHEN THE LOCK IS MOVED TO LOCKED CONDITION. THE LEVER AND CAM ALSO CONTROL RETRACTING AND PROJECTING MOVEMENT OF A BOLT WHEN THE LATTER IS RELEASED BY ESTABLISHING AN ELECTRICAL CIRCUIT UPON DIALING OF THE PROPER COMBINATION.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a dual-function switching apparatus intended particularly for controlling the two time bases of a dual time base oscilloscope. This switching apparatus comprises two switch contact assemblies of the wafer type driven in rotation by two coaxial shafts respectively. Each shaft is independently rotated by its own knob, these two knobs also being mounted coaxially one in front of the other. The rear knob has a datum index by which its position can be read on scale markings on the oscilloscope front panel. The front knob also has a datum index used for determining the position of this front knob. But to avoid parallax errors in reading the position of this front datum index on the scale markings, the rear knob is provided with auxiliary indexes which extend from the datum index on the front knob to the scale markings on the panel. When the datum index on the front knob is aligned with any particular auxiliary index on the rear knob, the position of the front knob is read by sighting along that auxiliary index from the front datum index to the scale markings.
