    摘要: This invention provides a rear plate of a plasma display panel (PDP) and the method for forming PDP ribs thereon. The address electrodes and the base plates are formed on a glass substrate. The address electrodes and the base plates are formed alternately. A rib material layer is formed over the address electrodes, the base plates and the glass substrate. A patterned mask layer is formed on the rib material layer. The rib material layer is further sandblasted to form the ribs according to the shape of the base plates. The rib material directly located on the glass substrate is easily removed because the adhesion between the rib material layer and the base plates is better than the adhesion between the rib material layer and the glass substrate.

    摘要: A display device has a screen made of a substrate and a group of elongated illuminators that are arranged on the substrate. Elongated electrode supporters are arranged on at least one side of the illuminators in the width direction. The elongated electrode supporter has plural electrodes that am spaced along the longitudinal direction of the illuminator and define corresponding discharge cells. A wiring conductive pattern is formed on the substrate for supplying electricity to the plural electrodes of the electrode supporter. Selective light emission from the discharge cells of the illuminator is controlled by signals applied to the wiring conductive pattern and the plural electrodes.

    摘要: A direct-current-lighting, ultra-high-pressure mercury lamp that is resistant to loss of transparency even after being lit for a long period, and has little wastage of electrodes and particularly the cathode tip, and also exhibits a long service life. The direct-current ultra-high-pressure mercury lamp includes a cathode and anode of tungsten facing each other within a quartz glass tube, and a cathode coil which is wrapped around the cathode. The cathode is composed of tungsten doped with potassium, and the anode is composed of tungsten having a purity of at least 99.99%. The cathode coil can also be advantageously formed of tungsten having a purity of at least 99.99%.

    摘要: A method for inhibiting the leaching of mercury from a mercury vapor discharge lamp wherein at least a part of the mercury is present as ionic mercury includes depositing a coating of SnO2 on an interior surface of the lamp envelope. The SnO2 coating is substantially free of a substance which would cause electrical conductivity of the coating. Further included within the lamp is a quantity of oxidizable iron in an amount equal to at least 1 gram per kilogram of lamp weight.

    摘要: Apparatus for coupling power into a body of gas by induction to provide a gas discharge, comprises a source of a/c power (3) coupled to a circuit arrangement having an inductor comprising two coils (1, 2), each constituted by a respective elongate conductor, the conductors each having one end coupled to the circuit arrangement at opposite respective sides of the inductor, and having the other end at a floating potential. The mutual capacitance between the coils, together with the inductance of the inductor as a whole, constitute a balanced self-resonant circuit having a resonant frequency which is greater than 1 MHz and less than 100 MHz. This arrangement can reduce temperature variations in the resonant frequency and can reduce unwanted r.f. emissions.
