摘要: Using a positive electrode active material including spinel type manganese oxide as the main constituent, a novel low cost and high output power flat type nonaqueous secondary cell for HEVs that has increased safety at overcharge, and superior storage properties and cycle life is provided. A flat type nonaqueous secondary cell that has increased safety and is superior in storage and cycle properties even though the cell is a laminate type cell which does not have a blocking mechanism can be obtained by blending the spinel type lithium manganese oxide of the positive electrode and 5 wt % to 40 wt % of layered type lithium manganese oxide, to suppress storage deterioration at a high temperature and to simultaneously achieve safety when overcharged, and further, by adding a Li compound having a structure as shown in Formula (1) structure, to suppress deterioration of a mixed positive electrode active material during a high temperature cycle.

摘要: An electrolytic solution for use in nonaqueous electrolytic lithium secondary cells which contains a room temperature molten salt, i.e., an aliphatic quaternary ammonium salt of the formula (1), an organic solvent and a lithium salt of the formula (2), the electrolytic solution being characterized in that the organic solvent contains vinylene carbonate in an amount of 1 to 5 wt. % based on the electrolytic solution, and a lithium secondary cell using the electrolytic solution wherein R1 to R3 are each a chain hydrocarbon having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, R4 is methoxymethyl, ethoxymethyl, propoxymethyl or isopropoxymethyl, and X1 and X2 are each a fluorine-containing anion.

摘要: The present invention is generally related to electrolytes containing novel redox shuttles for overcharge protection of lithium-ion batteries. The redox shuttles are capable of thousands hours of overcharge tolerance and have a redox potential at about 3-5.5 V vs. Li and particularly about 4.4-4.8 V vs. Li. Accordingly, in one aspect the invention provides electrolytes comprising an alkali metal salt; a polar aprotic solvent; and a redox shuttle additive that is an aromatic compound having at least one aromatic ring with four or more electronegative substituents, two or more oxygen atoms bonded to the aromatic ring, and no hydrogen atoms bonded to the aromatic ring; and wherein the electrolyte solution is substantially non-aqueous. Further there are provided electrochemical devices employing the electrolyte and methods of making the electrolyte.

摘要: The present invention provides a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery, comprising an electrode group including a positive electrode, a negative electrode including a material for absorbing-desorbing lithium ions, and a separator arranged between the positive electrode and the negative electrode, a nonaqueous electrolyte impregnated in the electrode group and including a nonaqueous solvent and a lithium salt dissolved in the nonaqueous solvent, and a jacket for housing the electrode group and having a thickness of 0.3 mm or less, wherein the nonaqueous solvent γ-butyrolactone in an amount larger than 50% by volume and not larger than 95% by volume based on the total amount of the nonaqueous solvent.

摘要: A non-aqueous electrolyte secondary cell that has excellent high-temperature cycle characteristics and that is highly safe enough to prevent overcharge is provided. The non-aqueous electrolyte secondary cell has a positive electrode for reversibly intercalating-deintercalating lithium ions, a negative electrode for reversibly intercalating-deintercalating lithium ions, and a non-aqueous electrolyte having a non-aqueous solvent and an electrolyte salt. The non-aqueous solvent includes a cycloalkylbenzene derivative and an alkylbenzene derivative having a quaternary carbon directly bonded to a benzene ring and not having a cycloalkyl group directly bonded to the benzene ring.
