    摘要: This invention discloses a method and a device for calibrating smart antenna arrays in real time. The invention includes the steps of providing a calibrating link comprising a coupling structure, feeder cables and pilot transceiver; pre-calibrating the coupling structure with a vector network analyzer and recording its receiving and transmitting transmission coefficients, respectively; implementing the receiving calibration to a smart antenna array by adjusting the transmission coefficient of each receiving link and a reference link to the same amplitude and phase difference &PHgr;, which is recorded and stored in a baseband processor; and implementing the transmitting calibration by adjusting the transmission coefficient of each transmitting link and a reference link to the same amplitude and phase difference &PSgr;, which is recorded and stored in the baseband processor. The coupling structure of the invention is implemented by a pilot antenna using spatial couple mode or a passive network.

    摘要: A relatively small phased array antenna is formed at a low cost even if the number of radiating elements increases in order to improve the gain. The phased array antenna has a multilayered structure in which a number of radiating elements (15), a phase shift unit (16) for changing the phase of an RF signal transmitted/received at each radiating element, and a distribution/synthesis unit (14) are formed on different layers. Signal lines (X1-Xm) and scanning lines (Y1-Yn) are wired on a phase control layer (35) to connect phase shift units to each other in a matrix. The signal lines and the scanning lines are matrix-driven by selection units (12X, 12Y) so that desired phase shift amounts are set to phase shift units located at the intersections of the signal and scanning lines. In addition, circuit portions repeatedly arranged in a single phase shift unit are formed into single chips mounted on another substrate.

    摘要: A phased array type antenna apparatus compensates for phase and time differences between signals received at different elements of the antenna. Each element within the antenna apparatus has an associated phase/time adjuster circuit. The signals from each element are divided, with the first output routed to a combining circuit. The second output of one element is used as a reference signal, with the second output from the remaining elements routed to a switch. One signal is selected at the switch, and is used as a non-reference signal. Phase difference between the reference signal and the non-reference signal is determined at a comparator circuit, and the phase/time adjuster circuit associated with the non-reference signal is adjusted to bring the two signals into phase alignment. Time difference between the reference and non-reference signal is determined using dual correlators and a comparator circuit. The comparator circuit compares the magnitude of an in-phase channel and a quadrature channel from each comparator to determine time difference between the signals. The phase/time adjuster circuit is adjusted to bring the signals into time alignment. When each element is phase and time aligned, the output of the combining circuit is enhanced. Time difference can also be determined for several distinct phased array apertures within an antenna apparatus.

    摘要: An ultra-wideband beamformer is provided by using conventional phase shifting techniques to impress data and antenna scan information onto a narrow band signal. A non-linear element then converts the narrow sine wave into ultra-wideband pulses. Phase shift key modulation impresses data information onto the sine wave in the form of a phase shift. The data-bearing sine wave is split into multiple transmission lines where each provides an additional antenna scanning phase shift. The non-linear element converts each phase of the sine wave into short pulses which are sent to radiating elements for transmission. In the far-field of the beam, the scan delays between the radiating elements are canceled out, such that the fields from each radiating element are summed and the pulse position modulated data recovered.

    摘要: The present invention utilizes a calibration signal weight vector as a response vector corresponding to a predetermined orientation angle of the antenna, thereby reducing an interference signal and enhancing a data communication effectively. The calibration method of an array antenna begins with generating a calibration signal in order to measure a transfer function of an array receiving means. A calibration signal vector is injected into the array receiver/transmitter, after multiplying a divided calibration signal and a predetermined weight vector corresponding to each channel together. The divided calibration signal is obtained by dividing the calibration signal by total number of channels. A calibration coefficient is obtained by using that the transfer function of each channel is estimated by analyzing the signal injected from the array receiver or transmitter. Finally, an interference signal is eliminated, by multiplying the received signal of a baseband and the calibration coefficient together.
