    摘要: A rack organizes dental implant containers both when housed within intermediate packaging and when removed therefrom, being arranged according to a tooth intended to receive the dental implant within the container. The rack includes: upper and lower flanges, and a connecting flange that separates the upper and lower flanges. The upper flange and connecting flange are each formed with a plurality of openings shaped to receive the dental implant container therethrough when the container is removed from the intermediate packaging. The openings may each have first and second slots to accommodate receiving a container therethrough when housed within intermediate packaging. The lower flange may removably couple to a base with a plurality of recesses, being usable to assist with restorative procedures relating to fixing dental implants, and may be removably coupled to the lower flange with the plurality recesses aligned with a plurality of openings in the lower flange.

    摘要: An electromagnetic intramedullary nail screw positioning system is used to assist an orthopaedic surgeon to correctly aligned a screw drill guide with a screw receiving aperture in an intramedullary nail during surgery. However due to the large number of different types of intramedullary nail, the system must be calibrated during each surgery. An improved calibration system is described that no longer requires the surgeon to perform the calibration during the surgery in order to save time and improve robustness. The system is periodically calibrated and a memory stores offset information for a range of nails types relative to a reference nail. During surgery, the surgeon enters a nail identifier, and the system looks up the associated offset and applies this offset to the measured signals to guide alignment of the screw drill guide with the screw receiving aperture.

    摘要: Exemplary embodiments of an apparatus can be provided for obtaining portions or samples of tissue from a target region of a biological tissue. One or more needles can be provided that have a small internal diameter, e.g., about 1 mm or less, and the needles can be configured to extract the tissue portions when the needles are inserted into and withdrawn from the tissue. Windows and/or markings can be provided on the wall of the needles to facilitate access to the sample. The needles can be provided in an enclosure, and an actuator can be provided to direct the needles into the tissue and/or withdraw them. A plurality of tissue portions having known relative locations in the target region can be obtained, and extraction of the tissue portions can be well-tolerated by the tissue as compared with conventional punch biopsies or the like.
