摘要: A multi-purpose balloon intra-cavity catheter includes a catheter having a proximal end portion, a central portion and a non-branching distal end portion, a plurality of lumens associated with the catheter extending from the proximal end portion, and a plurality of inflatable balloons positioned in the central portion and/or the non-branching distal end portion. Each of the plurality of inflatable balloons is communicatively associated with a corresponding one of the plurality of lumens, the plurality of inflatable balloons being selectively inflated or deflated to position and stabilize the catheter in a cavity for delivery of a medical treatment. The catheter can include an extraction opening associated with a lumen to remove fluids and materials from the cavity, and a connector associated with a corresponding lumen adapted to selectively receive one or more of a fluid medium or a radioactive isotope provided to a corresponding lumen for delivery of the medical treatment.

摘要: Techniques related to advance diagnosis of operating mode viability are disclosed. The techniques may involve obtaining status information pertaining to operation of a fluid delivery device. The status information may include at least one of a group comprising recent sensor measurement data, sensor calibration data, blood glucose reference measurement data, fluid delivery data, a current battery level of the fluid delivery device, and a current amount of fluid remaining in the fluid delivery device. The techniques may further involve determining, based on the status information, viability of transitioning to a destination operating mode of the fluid delivery device. Additionally, the techniques may involve causing generation of one or more user notifications of recommended remedial actions to improve the viability of transitioning to the destination operating mode when transitioning into the destination operating mode is determined not to be viable.

摘要: A microfluidic flow restrictor that uses micron-sized beads to impede flow is described. The flow rate can be adjusted by adding or removing the beads using injection needles through self-sealing ports, one injection needle injecting or aspirating beads and another injection needle pushing or pulling fluid from outside of a bead trap within the flow restrictor. In alternative embodiments, the beads or other filler material can be trapped in a manifold bead trap such that they block a subset of fluid channels of the flow restrictor, allowing fluid to flow freely through the rest of the fluid channels. The flow restrictor can be integrated with a contact lens or implantable medical device for use in dispensing liquid therapeutic agents at flow rates of microliters per minute or moving body fluids at a controlled rate from one part of the body to another.

摘要: The disclosed artificial insemination system comprises a cervical plug, catheter, and positioning tool. The cervical plug comprises a shield configured to cover an orifice, an arm attached to one side of the shield that is operable to be inserted into the cervical canal, and an insert member on the other side of the shield. A bore disposed within the cervical plug and extending through the insert member, shield, and arm is operable to receive the catheter used to deposit the semen sample. The positioning tool comprises a handle with a stem extending longitudinally therefrom and terminating at a bracket that is operable to receive the insert member and catheter and assist in preventing the cervical plug from becoming dislodged when the catheter is removed. A further object of this invention is the process by which the disclosed system is used to increase the efficacy of artificial insemination.
