Abstract: A method performed by a processing apparatus of a cell-free communication system that includes a plurality of access points (APs) is provided. The method includes: transmitting, to a wireless device via a master AP among one or more APs included in a cluster associated with the wireless device, measurement information for the wireless device to determine a measurement target AP for which the wireless device measures a channel state; and receiving, as a response to the measurement information, channel state information indicating the channel state to the measurement target AP, via the master AP.

Abstract: Zebrafish are a powerful model for investigating cardiac repair due to their unique regenerative abilities, scalability, and compatibility with many genetic tools. However, characterizing the regeneration process in live adult zebrafish hearts has proved challenging because adult fish are opaque and explanted hearts in conventional culture conditions experience rapid declines in morphology and physiology. To overcome these limitations, we fabricated a fluidic device for culturing explanted adult zebrafish hearts with constant media perfusion that is also compatible with live imaging. Unlike hearts cultured in dishes for one week, the morphology and calcium activity of hearts cultured in the device for one week were largely similar to freshly explanted hearts. We also cultured injured hearts in the device and used live imaging techniques to continuously record the revascularization process over several days, demonstrating how our device enables unprecedented visual access to the multi-day process of adult zebrafish heart regeneration.

Abstract: A semiconductor-based sensor with enhanced light absorption, and in particular, enhanced infrared light absorption includes a semiconductor light sensor element and a patterned spatially inhomogeneous dielectric layer disposed over the semiconductor light sensor element. Characteristically, spatial inhomogeneity of the patterned spatially inhomogeneous dielectric layer is optimized to provide a maximized electric field in the semiconductor light sensor element such light absorption is enhanced.

Abstract: A method of alleviating symptoms of, or treating, pancreatic beta-cell damage in a subject includes a step of identifying a subject having pancreatic beta-cell damage. Multiple cycles of a diet protocol are administered to the subject. The diet protocol includes administering of a fasting mimicking diet and a re-feeding diet where the fasting mimicking diet is provided for a first time period and the re-feeding diet is provided for a second time period.
