摘要: According to one embodiment, an image forming apparatus includes an image forming unit, plural rollers, and a roller supporting mechanism. The image forming unit forms an image on a sheet carried in a predetermined carrying direction and extends in an orthogonal direction that is orthogonal to the predetermined carrying direction. The plural rollers are arranged opposite the image forming unit with a carrying path of the sheet arranged in-between and are arranged in a plural number next to each other in the orthogonal direction. The roller supporting mechanism, while pressing the sheet toward the image forming unit, supports the plural rollers in such a way that each roller independently moves, between a carrying position where the sheet is carried in the carrying direction and a separation position where the sheet is separated from the image forming unit.

摘要: A folding display apparatus includes: first and second forms; and at least one flexible connector strip interconnecting the first and second forms and carrying indicia thereon in a preselected pattern. The apparatus is moveable between a first position in which the first and second forms collectively define a face bearing a first image composed from the indicia; and a second position in which the first and second forms collectively define a second face bearing a second image composed from the indicia.

摘要: Methods and apparatus are provided for sensing a paper low condition for fan-folded tickets in a ticket printer. An aperture is provided in a bottom portion of a paper tray which supports a stack of fan-folded tickets. The aperture may be positioned underneath an end of the ticket stack. A reflective sensor is positioned underneath the aperture. Light from the reflective sensor is reflected off a bottom ticket of the ticket stack and back to the sensor when the bottom ticket covers the aperture, indicating the presence of the tickets in the paper tray. A paper low condition may be sensed when enough tickets are printed such that the end of the ticket stack is lifted off the bottom portion of the paper tray and away from the aperture such that light is not reflected back to the sensor.

摘要: A printer (24) for printing upon a continuous web of print receivable media (18) is provided. The printer includes a print head (28) having a media drive assembly side and a media drive assembly for moving the media across the print head. The media drive assembly is disposed only on the media drive assembly side of the print head. The printer further includes a platen (30) disposed adjacent the print head and a controller (102) coupled to the print head, the media drive assembly, and the platen. The controller controls the printer during continuous printing and single sheet printing. During continuous printing, the media is moved in a downstream direction past the print head. During single sheet printing, the media is moved past the print head in an upstream direction one sheet at a time. Further, the printer may perform single sheet pull printing or single sheet push printing.

摘要: A printer and control method for printing to various types of recording media store printing modes appropriate to those various types of recording media in a mode/media memory section. When a particular printing mode is selected while a particular type of recording media is selected, the correlation between that printing mode an recording media is stored. Whenever that type of recording media is subsequently selected for printing, the corresponding printing mode is automatically selected from memory to control the printing operation. It is therefore possible to select what printing mode is used with what recording media, and thereafter automatically select, by simply selecting the type of recording media, the printing mode that is most appropriate to the type of recording media, the thickness of the media, and other particular media specifications. Printing appropriate to the type of recording media is then possible by simply selecting the type of recording media used.

摘要: A compact, easy-to-maintain printing apparatus features both receipt printing and journal printing and is capable of protecting data. Receipt printer 70 and journal printer 60 are mounted on a bottom housing 31 of the printing apparatus. Journal printer 60 comprises a separate chassis 65 and is removably mounted on a bottom housing 31. Two top housings 71 and 61 are provided, one hinged to the bottom housing 31, the other hinged to the chassis 65. The journal printer 60 is mounted behind the receipt printer 70 and the pivot for both covers is located near the rearward end of the bottom housing 31. When opened, top housing 71 for the receipt printer 70 rotates over journal printer 60, thereby assuring a wide open area above receipt printer 70. Top housing 61 of the journal printer 60 can be locked to bottom housing 31 by a keyed locking mechanism 81, thereby preventing improper operation of the journal printer 60 during maintenance.

摘要: A laser printer having two sheet feed trays mounted in the top of its case, enabling two different sizes of sheet to be loaded in the printer or increasing the sheet capacity of the printing device by providing the same type of sheet in both trays. The first tray nearest to the back end of the printer extends only a short distance over the end of the printer case so that the printer occupies little space, and the overall height of the case need not be increased. The second tray can be removed to reveal a sheet conveying path from the first tray, facilitating the removal of jammed sheet.

摘要: An information detection apparatus and information detection method for processing recording media to ascertain validity of checks and other negotiable instruments and print as necessary on the recording media. The information detection apparatus for processing recording media comprises in sequence along transportation path 1009 from the insertion opening 1006 a recording medium transportation mechanism 1003, printing mechanism 1004, and reading mechanism 1005. When a recording medium 1008 is transported by transportation mechanism 1003 along transportation path 1009 to a predetermined position, the check is positioned between presser roller 1051 and a detector 1052 of reading mechanism 1005. Presser roller 1051 then presses recording medium 1008 against detector 1052 while transportation mechanism 1003 pulls the recording medium and particular information recorded to the recording medium is detected. This operation straightens wrinkles and removes slack from recording medium 1008 to reduce reading errors. Based on the read information, a printing process is then executed by printing mechanism 4 and the recording medium is ejected from insertion opening 1006.
