摘要: In some examples, a system and method for pairing a payment object reader with a point-of-sale (POS) terminal is described herein. The method includes determining, by a wireless transceiver, a first value of signal strength corresponding to a current position of the payment object reader and a second value of signal strength corresponding to a new position of the payment object reader. The POS terminal then identifies the first wireless device as an intended candidate for pairing with the second wireless device based on variation in signal strength from the first value of signal strength to the second value of signal strength. Accordingly, the POS terminal establishes a wireless communication channel between the POS terminal and the payment object reader device for exchange of information. Once paired, the payment object reader allows the POS terminal to accept payments from a customer.

摘要: A cannula for insertion of a medical instrument includes a tube portion and an attachment portion coupled to the tube portion. One or more magnets are arranged at the attachment portion and configured to encode identifying information of the cannula. The attachment portion comprises a plurality of encoding positions that each indicate part of the identifying information; and for each encoding position of the plurality of encoding positions, absence of one of the one or more magnets at the respective encoding position indicates a first value, presence of one of the one of the magnets with a first orientation at the respective encoding position indicates a second value, and presence of one of the one of the magnets with a second orientation at the respective encoding position indicates a third value.

摘要: A teleoperable medical system comprises a manipulator arm and a cannula mount coupled to the manipulator arm. The manipulator arm comprises an interface configured to operably couple with a medical instrument. The cannula mount is configured to removably mount a cannula to the manipulator arm in a position to permit removable insertion of the medical instrument through the cannula. The cannula mount comprises a receptacle configured to receive an attachment portion of the cannula in a mounted state of the cannula, and a reader positioned to be in magnetic field sensing proximity to the attachment portion of the cannula in the mounted state of the cannula. The teleoperable medical system comprises a controller configured to receive output signals from the reader and determine identification information about the cannula based on the output signals.

摘要: A payment reader includes a contactless interface for communicating with a contactless device. The payment reader has a processor that executes instructions stored in memory, and the instructions include instructions for a plurality of firmware modules including a message dispatcher module and a plurality of functional modules. The functional modules generate messages and the message dispatcher module stores the messages in a queued data structure such as a stack or a queue. The messages are provided to the functional modules from the queued data structure. Some of the messages are timed messages that are returned to the queued data structure.

摘要: A payment card (e.g., credit and/or debit card) is provided with a magnetic emulator operable of communicating information to a magnetic stripe reader. Information used in validating a financial transaction is encrypted based on time such that a validating server requires receipt of the appropriate encrypted information for a period of time to validate a transaction for that period of time. Such dynamic information may be communicated using such an emulator such that a card may be swiped through a magnetic stripe reader—yet communicate different information based on time. An emulator may receive information as well as communicate information to a variety of receivers (e.g., an RFID receiver).

摘要: According to the card reading device (20) for a self-service terminal comprising a intake compartment (13) for a card (11) containing data to be read, wherein the self-service terminal comprises at least one sensor (6A, 6B) and an evaluator device connected hereto and the card reading device (20) is protected against manipulation attempts by arranging at least one sensor in the card reading device (20) and at least one linearly extending sensor arrangement (6A,6B) that is attached in the intake compartment (13), wherein the evaluator device (4) checks at least one spatial dimension (1,b) of the card via the sensor arrangement (6A, 6B). Preferably the sensor system is a sensor arrangement comprising a plurality of linearly extending sensor elements that extend in a first direction (X) or a second direction (Y) in relation to the card (11) retracted into the intake compartment (13). Thereby it can be effectively determined whether a retracted card is a genuine card of if a manipulation is present that targets the inside of the card reading device.

摘要: A brown-out detector and power-on-reset circuit can be used to monitor a supply voltage to determine when brown-out and power-on events occur and provide the appropriate reset signal in response. The circuit can include a comparator to generate the reset signal and a first monitoring circuit that operates in conjunction with a second monitoring circuit to provide an input voltage to the comparator. The first monitoring circuit can incorporate a bandgap circuit and can be used to control the input voltage based on the comparison of the supply voltage and a corresponding supply voltage threshold. The second monitoring circuit can incorporate a diode and can be used when the supply voltage is lower than a threshold voltage for the bandgap circuit. The second monitoring circuit can be used to control the input voltage based on a comparison of the supply voltage and a threshold voltage for the diode.
