    摘要: A belt retractor (10) for a vehicle seat belt includes a frame (12) provided with plural blocking teeth (22), a belt reel (14) which is rotatably supported in the frame (12) and includes a blocking tooth system (24), and a control mechanism by which the belt reel (14) can be moved from a home position in which it can freely rotate in the frame (12) into a blocking position in which its blocking tooth system (24) engages in the blocking teeth (22) of the frame. The control mechanism includes a locking lever (80) adjustable between a release position and a locked position in which it locks rotation of the belt reel (14) relative to the control mechanism so that the belt reel (14) can be moved into the blocking position by a tensile force acting in the webbing.

    摘要: A sensing system and method for automatically deactivating an airbag (46) in a vehicle (10). The sensing system includes a seat weight sensor (52) mounted, for example, in a front passenger seat (16), and an ALR sensor (34) for detecting if an automatic locking retractor (32) is active. Signals from these sensors are received by a seat weight sensor module (50). If the automatic locking retractor (32) is active, then a predetermined weight is subtracted from the weight reading detected by the seat weight sensor (52) to produce a weight value prior to comparing the weight value to a predetermined threshold value. If the threshold value is larger, then the sensor module (50) signals the airbag module (48) to deactivate the airbag (46).

    摘要: A seat belt webbing retractor (10) has a spool sleeve (24) about which seat belt webbing (30) is wound. The spool sleeve (24) is rotatable in webbing withdrawal and webbing retraction directions (A and B). A ratchet wheel (26) is fixed for rotation with the spool sleeve (24). A movable pawl (34) has a blocking position for blocking the ratchet wheel (26) and the spool sleeve (24) against rotation in the webbing withdrawal direction (A). The pawl (34) also has a release position for permitting rotation of the ratchet wheel (26) and the spool sleeve (24) in the webbing withdrawal direction (A). A ring gear (96) moves from an initial position to an end position during rotation of the spool sleeve (24) and the ratchet wheel (26) in the webbing withdrawal direction (A). A lever (46) moves from a first position to a second position when the ring gear (96) arrives at the end position to cause movement of the pawl (34) automatically from the release position to the blocking position. An arm (56) on the lever (46) holds the ring gear (96) in a predetermined location relative to the lever during assembly of the retractor.

    摘要: A seat belt retractor spool (14) has a seat belt (16) wound on the spool. Ratchet wheels (22) are fixed for rotation with the spool (14). A pawl (30) is movable into a position for blocking rotation of the ratchet wheels (22) and the spool (14) in a belt withdrawal direction (A). A lever (50) is pivotable to move the pawl (30) to the blocking position. A control ring gear assembly (94) is driven upon rotation of the spool (14) to cause the lever (50) to pivot after a predetermined length of the seat belt (16) is withdrawn from the spool (14). The control ring gear assembly (94) includes two members (96 and 118) which are mounted together, and which have projections (114, 122L), respectively, for engaging and pivoting the lever (50). The members (96 and 118) have interlocking portions (104 and 122) which are locked during mounting of the members (96 and 118) for preventing relative movement between the members. The interlocking portions (104 and 122) are unlocked during dismounting of the members to permit repositioning of the members relative to each other, which repositions the projection (122L). Changing the position of the projection (122L) changes the amount of rotation of the ring gear assembly (94) required prior to the projection (122L) pivoting the lever (50) to cause a lock-up of the retractor. This changes the predetermined length of the seat belt (16) that can be withdrawn.

    摘要: A vehicle seat belt retractor has a manual cinch mechanism. The retractor includes a spool on which belt webbing is wound. It also includes a metal pawl which is movable into a locking position in engagement with a spool locking ratchet wheel to block the spool against rotation in the belt withdrawal direction. A pawl actuator is movable between a first position and a second position to move the pawl into its locking position. A manually movable member such as a push button can move the pawl actuator into its second position and thereby move the metal pawl into its locking position. When the pawl actuator has been moved into its second position by the manually movable member, an overcenter spring acts to keep the pawl actuator in its second position, holding the metal pawl in its locking position. The overcenter spring can act on the pawl only through the pawl actuator. Thus, the overcenter spring can hold the pawl in its locking position only when the pawl actuator is intentionally moved into its second position by the manually movable member.

    摘要: When required a quasi-static blocking function is achieved in a fundamentally conventional belt retractor with vehicle-sensitive and/or webbing-sensitive blocking mechanism comprising a control disc (16) which is provided at its outer periphery with a control toothing (18) and by the movement of which relatively to the belt spool (12) the blocking mechanism is activatable. For this purpose a feeler (26) is held in spring-resilient engagement with the outer periphery of the belt coil. An actuating arm (34) of a control pawl (24) pivotally mounted on the housing (10) cooperates with control faces of said feeler (26). The control pawl (24) is movable between a first stable position in which it engages with its pawl tip (30) into the control toothing (18) and a second stable position in which it is moved out of the region of the control toothing. With its control faces the feeler (26) following the outer diameter of the webbing coil (B) moves the control pawl (24) into its first stable position when the outer diameter of the webbing coil has reached a predetermined minimum value and into its second stable position when said outer diameter has reached a predetermined intermediate value.
