    Abstract: A method for controlling an inflatable airbag system in a motor vehicle having a seatbelt includes detecting a position of a vehicle occupant relative to an airbag suppression zone (ASZ). Electronic input signals are received from a sensor suite, including an occupant position signal and a seatbelt usage status signal. A restraint capacity setting of the airbag is adjusted in response to the electronic input signals such that corresponding restraint activation logic is executed by the controller based on whether the occupant is belted or unbelted. Different ASZs may be used for belted and unbelted occupants. A motor vehicle includes a vehicle body defining a vehicle interior, an airbag, a seatbelt, a sensor suite for detecting a position of an occupant relative to the ASZ, and a controller operable for controlling a restraint capacity setting and location of the ASZ in accordance with the method.

    Abstract: Various implementations include a system for adjusting the position of a seatbelt in a vehicle. The system includes a shoulder anchor, at least one sensor, and a processor. The shoulder anchor is for receiving a seatbelt. The shoulder anchor is movable relative to a seat disposed within the vehicle. The processor is in electrical communication with the sensor and a memory. The processor executes computer-readable instructions stored on the memory. The instructions cause the processor to receive sensor data from the sensor, determine whether the seatbelt is within an expected area on a person in the seat based on the received sensor data, and cause the shoulder anchor to move relative to the seat in response to the seatbelt being outside of the expected area on the person in the seat such that the seatbelt is moved into the expected area.

    Abstract: Methods and systems for providing accident information from a vehicle to an emergency responder when a vehicle accident occurs. One system includes a sensor and an electronic processor. The electronic processor is configured to receive vehicle data from the sensor. The electronic processor is also configured to determine a child presence indication of whether a child is present in the vehicle based on the vehicle data. The electronic processor is also configured to determine a state of a windshield of the vehicle based on the vehicle data. The electronic processor is also configured to generate an emergency message including the child presence indication and the state of a windshield of the vehicle. The electronic processor is also configured to automatically transmit the emergency message to an emergency responder.
