    摘要: A power-assisted hydraulic steering system for use in connection with a vehicle having a steering linkage which couples a steering wheel to a vehicle steering actuator, an electrically actuated hydraulic pump, and a tank of hydraulic fluid. The steering system includes a boost cylinder connected to the steering actuator, a hydraulic spool valve fluidly coupling the pump and tank to the boost cylinder, and a switch coupled to the pump. A spool which is mechanically coupled to the steering actuator is mounted within the valve for reciprocal motion between neutral, extended and retracted positions, and is biased to the neutral position by a centering spring which establishes a power-assist threshold. The switch senses the position of the spool, and switches the pump on when the spool is in the extended and retracted positions. When steering forces applied to the steering actuator by rotation of the steering wheel are less than the power-assist threshold, the spool will remain in the neutral position with the pump switched off and the valve fluidly isolating the pump and tank from the boost cylinder. When steering forces applied to the steering actuator by rotation of the steering wheel are greater than the power-assist threshold, the linkage housing forces the spool to the retracted or extended position depending on the direction of the rotation, thereby switching the pump on and driving the boost cylinder and steering actuator through a power-assist retraction or extension stroke.

    摘要: A lock valve apparatus and a hydraulic system incorporating a lock valve apparatus including a lock valve body with a bore, a first port, a second port, a third port and a fourth port. There is a spool valve with a valve spool reciprocatingly received in the bore. The spool valve, a first one-way valve and a second one-way valve normally prevent fluid flowing between the ports. The first one-way valve and passageways in the valve permit a fluid flow from the first port to the third port when the first port is pressurized. The second one-way valve and passageways in the spool valve body permit a fluid flow from the second port to the fourth port when the second port is pressurized. The spool valve is shifted to align passageways, including a first annular passageway, between the spool and the bore to permit a return flow of fluid from the fourth port to the second port when the first port is pressurized. The first annular passageway receives pressurized fluid from the fourth port. The spool is shifted to align passageways, including a second annular passageway, between the spool and the bore to permit a return flow of fluid from the third port to the first port when the second port is pressurized. The second annular passageways receives pressurized fluid from the third port.

    摘要: Auxiliary control of fluid actuated steering apparatus for ships, boats and the like (hereinafter, "water vessels") includes isolating the existing steering control system from the steering apparatus and providing flow-communication between fluid under pressure and the steering apparatus through an auxiliary directional control sub-system enabling control of the steering apparatus independently of the main steering control system. According to a preferred embodiment, the source of the fluid includes a quantity of fluid stored under pressure and another quantity of fluid adapted to be provided under pressure. Isolation of the existing steering control system is carried out by coupling the source of fluid to a by-pass control sub-system preferably adapted both to isolate the main steering control system and to couple the auxiliary directional control sub-system to the steering apparatus. Initiation of the auxiliary steering control may be carried out by electrical, hydraulic or pneumatic actuation or, preferably, by a combination thereof.

A rotor is rotatably supported in the housing and in turn supports a plurality of pistons which are parallel to the axis of rotation of the rotor. The novelty resides in the swash plate assembly which includes an off-the-shelf bearing comprising two parallel plates with all bearings sandwiched therebetween with one of the plates engaging the pistons. An integral plastic ring member is disposed within the annular opening of the upper thrust plate of the bearing assembly and includes trunnions extending laterally in opposite directions for disposition in grooves in the cover member for changing the angle of inclination of the bearing assembly. An adjustment member extends through the cover for engaging the upper thrust plate of the bearing assembly to change the angle of the inclination thereof.

    摘要: The present invention relates to a hydraulic propulsion and guidance system for a marine vessel. There is provided within the vessel a main system for generating fluid pressure to be transmitted to the fluid motor, a helm pressure generating unit for transmitting fluid pressure to the steering mechanism, and a further fluid pump for operating the trim and lift cylinder. A stationary, manifold hinge shaft is mounted to the transom with first rigid hinge sections so as to extend in a generally horizontal postion outside the vessel. Second hinge sections are mounted for oscillation about the manifold hinge shaft. The outdrive unit consists of an upper section and a lower section, the former mounted to oscillate about the manifold hinge shaft while the latter includes a fluid motor and a steering shaft formed as an integral part thereof and mounted to oscillate with respect to the upper section for steering. A first hydraulic system is mounted within the upper section of the outdrive for turning the steering shaft of the lower section while a second hydraulic system mounted to the transom of the vessel is connected to the upper section of the outdrive so as to rotate same in a vertical plane about the manifold hinge shaft for trim and lift. First fluid conduit structure is provided operatively connecting the main fluid pressure generating system and the fluid motor, including portions thereof passing through and forming a part of the manifold hinge shaft, first hinge sections and the lower section of the outdrive including the steering shaft thereof. There is further provided second fluid conduit structure operatively connecting the helm pressure generating unit and the first hydraulic system, including portions thereof passing through and forming a part of the manifold hinge shaft and the first and second hinge sections. The first hydraulic system includes a piston provided with a rack meshing with a corresponding pinion gear formed along the periphery of the steering shaft of the lower section of the outdrive such that as the helm pressure generating unit is operated the first hydraulic system rotates the steering shaft and the lower section of the outdrive unit. The second hydraulic system consists of a twocylinder tandem arrangement operated by the fluid pump for preforming the trim and lift functions.

    摘要: A marine autopilot system is disclosed. While in autopilot mode, the marine vessel's autopilot system autonomously steers the marine vessel's rudder. Steering input provided using the helm typically results in counter-steering to the autopilot. If the autopilot is following a current heading or course (route), the autopilot may continue its efforts to remain on the heading or course in response to the deviation caused by steering input to the helm. The disclosed autopilot system improves this problem by including one or more sensors that measure helm movement and wirelessly transmit helm movement data to one or more components of the marine vessel's electronic network. If the operator of the marine vessel manually steers the helm to deviate from a current heading or course, helm movement exceeding a predetermined autopilot disengagement threshold may cause the autopilot control to temporarily disengage, allowing a user to manually steer the marine vessel.

    摘要: The new tilt steering mechanism includes a housing having a tower and a pair of C-shaped clamps comprising a locking apparatus fixed with respect to the tower. Each clamp has a locking quadrant formed by alternating ridges and grooves. A swivel bar extends along a swivel axis and is trunnion-mounted for pivoting movement with respect to the tower and the clamps. An annular, ring-like locking device is mounted on the swivel bar for movement therealong and is spring biased toward the clamps. Such locking device includes a pair of wedge-shaped locking members for selectively engaging grooves in respective quadrants on the clamps. Other features for excluding dirt from the mechanism and, in the case of a mechanism used to drive a pump and steer a boat, for driving the pump and checking oil level are also disclosed.
