    摘要: An effective thread number in the thread section which is disposed on the mouth section of the bottle is formed to be 2.2. That is, the thread section is formed such that the thread section 13 should serve effectively in the mouth section such that an interval between a start position and an end position should be 2.0 to 2.5. In the bottle can member 11 which has such a thread section, an outer diameter of the thread section which is formed on the mouth section is 28 to 38 mm. Also, the thickness of the mouth section is 0.25 to 0.4 mm. The thread section which has the effective thread number 2.0 to 2.5 is formed by eight-thread per inch pitch. By doing this, it is possible to put the cap desirably.

    摘要: This invention provides substitute capping heads to apply a threaded closure on a bottle neck through the utilization of existing machines which were designed to apply an aluminum closure on a bottle neck by in situ formation of the threads in an aluminum shell. The modified capping heads embodying this invention utilize the same rotational and vertical movements of the capping heads relative to the containers, but effect a frictional engagement with a pre-formed, internally threaded plastic closure to effect the screwing of such closure onto a bottle neck with the effective application torque being limited by a slip clutch incorporated in the drive train of the modified capping head. Such clutch is isolated from ambient humidity conditions, and in some modifications operates in an oil bath.

    摘要: A tear-off cap closure for a container including a cap body having a cap top and an integral skirted cap wall. The cap wall depends from the periphery of the cap top for attachment to the container, and terminates in a peripherally extending bead. A deformable bridge portion integrally connects a minor portion of the bead with the cap body. A sever line extends around the cap wall from one side of the bridge portion to the opposite side of the bridge portion to enable severing of a major portion of the bead from the cap wall during application of the cap closure to the container and forms a pull-ring for pulling the cap from the container when access to the contents of the container is desired.

    摘要: A capping machine is provided which includes a rotatable turret with outwardly open vertical slots around its perimeter and a plurality of spindles secured in the slots for applying swage-on closures to containers wherein such swage-on spindles can be easily removed and replaced by spindles for applying roll-on closures. The turret includes two cams, with the upper cam being adapted to vertically reciprocate either swage-on spindles or roll-on spindles, and the lower cam being adapted to move rollers on spinning headsets on roll-on spindles against the skirts of closures on containers, and further includes drive means adapted to rotate such spinning headsets to roll threads in closures'' skirts, wherein such drive means is in non-obstructing position with respect to swage-on spindles when they are mounted in the turret. A method is also provided for applying swage-on closures to containers by means of such a machine.

    摘要: A novel capping head is disclosed for effecting the thread forming of a generally cylindrical closure cap disposed over male threads about an open neck portion of a container such as a bottle. The capping head comprises an annular or ring-like roller having an internal diameter greater than the external diameter of the closure cap. The annular roller is mounted within a housing and is initially selectively positioned about the closure cap such that the roller encircles the cap. The housing is then tilted from its central axis such that the inner periphery of the annular roller therein contacts the closure cap. Rotation of the housing in a conical eccentric manner effects eccentric movement of the annular roller about and relative to the closure cap such that the inner periphery of the roller deformably engages the outer periphery of the closure cap and forms threads therein.

    摘要: This apparatus applies twist-off crowns to the tops of bottles by forming the crowns in place. A cap blank is placed over the threaded top of a bottle. A combustible gas is placed in a confined space above the cap blank. The combustible gas is ignited and the cap blank forms onto the bottle top making a functional twist-off cap from the crown blank. When the combustible gas is ignited, a compressive wave strikes the cap blank and forms it to the twist-off top.
