    摘要： Dyestuffs which in the form of the free acid conform to the formula ##STR1## in which X and Y independently represent --N.dbd.N--R, --CF.sub.3, --CONH.sub.2, --CONHR.sup.1, --CONR.sup.1 R.sup.2, --COOH, --COOR.sup.1, --CN, --NO.sub.2, --NH.sub.2, --NHR.sup.1, --NR.sup.1 R.sup.2, --OH, --OR.sup.1, --R.sup.1 CONH--, --O--CO--R.sup.1, halogen or a substituted or unsubstituted heterocyclic radical, provided that at least one of the radicals X or Y represents --N.dbd.N--R, in whichR represents an aryl or heterocyclic radical, andR.sup.1 and R.sup.2 independently represent alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl or aralkyl, which are uninterrupted or interrupted by O, S or both O and S,and in which furthermore the radicals mentioned for R, R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are unsubstituted or substituted, the dyestuff contains a maximum of eight azo bridges, and with the exception of the dyestuff which, in the form of its free acid, conforms to the formula I wherein ##STR2## and light-polarizing films or sheets containing an organic polymer, preferably a vinyl alcohol homopolymer or copolymer, and dyestuff I.

    摘要： A new dye based upon N-alkylated or N-hydroxyalkylated 8-amino-1-naphthol-3,6-disulfonic acid and 4,4'-diaminostilbene-2,2'-disulfonic acid, a procedure for synthesizing it and a procedure for utilizing it for coloring cellulosic substrates is disclosed. The naphthol compound is alkylated or hydroxyalkylated and coupled with the isolated tetrazonium salt of the diamine, and in a preferable embodiment sufficient of the sulfonic acid groups are neutralized to render the final dye water soluble. The procedure is preferably conducted in aqueous medium, and the substitution of the amino group of the naphthol compound is preferably effected with lower dialkyl sulfates or epoxides. The dye is particularly suitable for dyeing paper.

    摘要： A novel modified diarylide pigment contains (a) a pigment which is composed of a tetrazotized benzidine, coupled to an acetoacetarylide and/or a 1-phenyl-3-methylpyrazole-5-one, and (b) a water-soluble component obtained from a symmetric or asymmetric coupling product of a tetrazotized 4,4'-diamino-2,2'-stilbenedisulfonic acid and an acetoacetarylide and/or a 1-phenyl-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone. The novel pigments possess very good color strength, very good gloss characteristics and very good transparency, and exhibit improved printing characteristics, particularly in offset printing inks.
