    摘要: A method is provided for contactless optical detection of yarn at a workstation of a textile machine in which the yarn moves in a sensing slot between a source of radiation and an optical sensor having at least one row of radiation sensitive elements, whereby shading of the individual radiation sensitive elements by yarn moving through the sensing slot is monitored and a state of the yarn is evaluated on a basis of the monitoring. The method monitors and evaluates a position of the yarn in the sensing slot or a time course of the position of the yarn in the sensing slot. A change is detected in the position or in the time course of the position of the yarn in the sensing slot corresponding to a yarn break before an end of the yarn break passes through the sensing slot. When the yarn break is sensed, a stop signal is generated for the workstation.

    摘要: A process to test the monitoring function of an electronic sensor at the work station of a textile machine in order to avoid wrong decisions by the control unit of the work station. The sensors are tested during operation. For a brief time span a second sensor of the same type is located at the same time within the operating range of the sensor of the working station so that its function overlaps in time with that of the sensor of the work station. During the time of overlap the logical levels of the two sensors are detected, compared with each other and classified as result of the test.

    摘要: An apparatus for sensing a parting in any of the strands of sliver fed from a creel to the drafting rolls of a high speed textile draw frame to stop the drawing process in response to a sliver parting. A plurality of sliver guides are mounted on an elongate arm which is compact and readily mounted on the creel. The sliver guides are U-shaped with inturned upper end portions defining a restricted opening at the top portion and a capacitive sensing switch positioned in the bight portion thereof. The sliver guides also include a low coefficient of friction coating to reduce the accumulation of lint. Cylindrical post separators are positioned alongside the path of the slivers to maintain separation and prevent entangling of adjacent slivers. Logic and control electronics are contained within a housing carried by the elongate arm.

    摘要: The method and apparatus for supplying a reserve feed stock to a spinning machine or spinning position thereof, contemplates monitoring the operational state of a production feed stock and upon reaching a predeterminate operational state thereof, such as near depletion or depletion of the production feed stock, or even rupture thereof, bringing a reserve feed stock previously held in readiness into a production position where such reserve feed stock now assumes the role of a production feed stock. Consequently, downtime of the spinning machine or spinning position can be minimized and its operation at least partially automated since there is always available a reserve feed stock to allow for essentially continuous or continual production of a spun yarn or thread. One specific piecing technique uses a movable member for placement of a reserve feed stock into the travel path of a production feed stock such that piecing of these two feed stocks is reliably attained. Here the production feed stock may be separated by a clamping or cutting action or the terminal end thereof may be monitored so that the reserve feed stock can be pieced to a desired terminal end section of the production feed stock without the need for any separation operation.
